Changing e92 Dashboard Lower Colour
Hi
I have purchased a E92 which has a black dashboard with the lower part being grey including the glovebox etc. As the interior is grey fabric i would like to replace this for leather interior, however due to the lower part of the dashboard being grey i am very limited to only being able to change to grey leather when i would really like to install black leather. Is it possible to change the trim to another colour for the lower part of the dashboard ????? Regards Gavin |

Ok thanks it looks like the only option is to stay with grey
I have found this https://www.gumtree.com/p/car-replac...ing/1149084816 however my current seats only have part electric where these ones are fully electric. Do you know if they would be plug and play and just if a straight swap over would work ? Kind Regards Gavin |

The lower part of dash/consoles, etc. can be dyed with the proper vinyl dye & preparation - we did it all the time @ the custom auto upholstery shop I worked at while in college.
A lot cheaper & less labor intensive than replacing all those parts, especially the dash

Dye in my experience is never 100% accurate and is never OEM quality especially for the dashboard which is soft rubberized vinyl not, this is not some cheap honda where bottom part is pure plastic

Black dye is Black dye all over the planet no problem with color match
There is special dye for flexible vinyl parts - used all the time for old car restoration - on cars that end up being worth way more than a BMW

I think a member on here recently dyed his dashboard. Look up MarioK I believe.
I've used similar products in the past on other cars and never had issues with discoloration or wear. |

Can anyone recommend what I need to paint the lower part of my dashboard black as i have now purchased the black headliner and all the other bits of trim needed now.
I understand that I will have to buy a new glovebox in black along with other parts e.g. switch surround etc. Just looking for some advise on how to change the colour without having to remove the dashboard from the car. Regards Gavin |

Maybe use a rubberized coating or spray. Jeep enthusiasts will spray entire interior with rhino liner or something similar

I've always been intrigued by the cloth seats since it's not an option available on US BMW's not sure why I feel like some people would prefer it over the leatherette... Anyways all the answers you seek are here
