Hey all, I figured it was time for a formal introduction.

I recently bought a 2011 D from a dealership in Arizona. Considering I live in Portland, and that I was buying the car sight-unseen, it was a bit nerve wracking. But I have a friend who actually works at this dealership, and after giving the car a thorough inspection he recommended it. It's a 1-owner vehicle with full service history and 64k miles on the clock. Unfortunately there is no service history of a CBU cleaning, which means it's likely due for it.

I really wanted an M-Sport car, but after searching for months and not being able to find one with the options I wanted, I finally decided to settle for a loaded Sport... I can always fit the M-Sport bumpers later

I'd love to post up pictures, but it's currently on a transporter somewhere between Phoenix and Portland!

I've been lurking here and doing research for months, so several things are already either on order or already in my garage waiting for the car to arrive:

JBD tuner
Oil catch can
"grill scoops" for the factory airbox
EGR block-off plates
Transmission pan/filter
Assorted fluids for trans, diff, and coolant changes

Now being a DIY kind of guy, and having owned/modified/built many BMWs in the past, I'm planning on doing all the work myself. Which leads me to a particular questions regarding the CBU on these cars:

- When doing a CBU cleaning, my understanding is that the intake manifold needs to be "hot tanked" or cleaned in some similar way, as the walnut blasting will not reach all of the internal crevices and cavities. Is a standard hot tanking procedure safe on these plastic manifolds? Or is some kind of specialized process/chemical bath required?

- What programming options are available for coding out the warning lights that come along with the EGR block-off? I'm aware of a UK-based company, but I'm hoping to avoid the downtime associated with shipping my DME halfway across the world.

- Finally, regarding the Torque and Carly apps, does Torque Pro allow for coding options the same way that Carly does? And does Carly require the use of their own branded OBDII reader, or do 3rd party/generic readers offer the same capability/compatibility?

I saw your FS add and considered it, but since you said "local sale only", and I didn't want to get hit with CA sales tax (which applies wherever the transaction takes place), I decided to pass. Good luck though!

I took my intake to a local place where they hot tanked it in a solution that's safe for plastic. They kept it in for almost three days and it came out squeaky clean! (and it was as bad as any I've seen pictures of on this sight) $60 Canadian.

It's all good Yes CA tax sux. I got spoiled by not paying sales tax in Portland when I used to frequent there a lot a few years ago. It was great haha. Don't forget to post some pics when you get the car!

I bought mine about 3 or so years ago. I am the first owner, with about 11k miles. I love the power of the diesel but I do miss my e46 m3 :/
