air tool question

I have always heard that guys at the shop use air tools and impact wrenches and just crank the lug nuts on and sometimes damage the bolts or whatnot.

I just got myself a garage air compressor, and was curious as to what tool would be best for the job? are there some that have the torque sensors on them to help prevent me from doing damage?

I dont own air tools buy ive worked at a Mazda dealer previously and they use these "torque extensions" that allow you to just go full blast on a impact gun, but stop when they've reached the tq specific to that extension. They come in different tq measurements like 80lbs/ft, 90, 100 etc.
