Advise please! BMW e92 320d 58 Plate

Hi all,

I am new to this forum, I have a few questions regarding my car.

It all started when my car went into limp mode so I took it to BMW and they advised me to change my egr valve and possible more work required. So OK I changed the egr valve and guess what a day later I have the same problem. I returned it to BMW they have told me the egr cooler and egr are fine and all the sensors are fine. Now they have said they need the intake off to investigate further with a £270 price tag.

I have Carly for BMW and it throws up the following codes.

00452A Info-particle system Engine Motor Control
00480A Particle filter system Engine Motor Control
004933. Engine Motor Control
004A5E Glow plug cylinder 2 Engine Motor Control
004A6E Glow plug cylinder 1 Engine Motor Control

P.s the car is on 140k with full stealer history up to date.

I do not know what to do next as BMW are charging just shy off £1500. £270 to investigate and the rest is to change all 4 glow plugs and dechoke the manifold if need be.

Any advice is much appreciated people

452A is a DPF fault code saying its nearing end of life.
480A is a DPF fault code saying the DPF is blocked

4933 is a EGR fault code saying the flow thru the EGR valve isnt right.

So yes, there might be an EGR fault, but surely the DPF is the bigger issue?!

Sounds like the place you took it dont have a clue what they're doing. Take it elsewhere!

1500quid is mental. I did my glow plugs myself an the parts cost about 50quid.

Thanks for the reply, as I said they have replaced the egr and did a pressure test on the dpf and all was ok. The readings from carly for the dpf all look OK aswell. It was a main BMW dealer trainer Swansea. The engine light is intermittent and only goes into limp mode occasionally.

i usually just google the fault code and BMW, and it usually finds some good info about it.
