Max power safely and cost efficient

Guys, been reading the forums a lot lately and trying to figure out what makes the most sense for me;

I have n54 with FBO (cobb) + inlets

I would love a little more power, but don't want to change fuel pump or run meth. I have access to e85 and i always use 93 octane.

Should I get a dyno and have a custom map made for me?
Can I just use a little e85? is noticeable different?
What's necessary to get the most power while maintaining extreme reliability?

1) Max out E85 meaning up to E35/40 on stock pump. 2) You need a custom map, pay someone to do it or do it yourself with ATR in Cobb as this will allow maximum efficiency ie: timing, boost and fuel. There's no magic, that's as far as you can take what you have.

Out of curiosity, what is the reasoning behind not wanting to change the fuel pump? E85 in higher concentrations with your mods makes for some really nice power gains.

Get a custom tune. Adding some e85 to the tank increases octane. Thus increasing the capability to run more timing and boost and leaner AFRs

Either you want to or not your will have to change your LPFP. It is a necessity and preventive maintenance. I would rather see you upgrade to a Fuel-It Stage 2 LPFP than a custom tune

E85 is scary sh!t. It's not safe like gas. That's why they pumps are all yellow and stuff, just a warning to people that they might die.

Seriously. Go FBO plus stage 2 pump. Make 500hp.

E85 is ethanol alcohol same stuff you drink, not sure what scary about it, it far safer then gasoline for a motor due to its excellent cooling properties and higher octane rating. With a properly setup fuel pump its not really a concern. It may reduce life replacement of the HPFP, but they seem to die with pump gas only as well so that is a non issue from my perspective.

Best bang for the bucket his stage of mods is easily going to an e85 mix and bumping boost and timing for some nice gains.

You should be fine running Cobb OTS e30 maps or custom 93 tune.. An aggressive custom e30 tune may require LPFP upgrade..

Agreed, my point is with his current set up, the Cobb maps even leave a lot on the table.

So you recommend just getting the lpfp off the bat and then working with that?

Is it beneficial with just 92 octane gas, or do i then need to add e85 to maximize its use? I rather not be bothered with always having to find e85.

Title should say, "safe, cost efficient, and lazy"

Get the Fuel-It Stage 2 LPFP, it doesnt matter if its for pump or E85 mix. When you do decide to get a custom tune you will be happy that you already have the upgraded fuel pump.

The Fuelt-It Stage 2 LPFP is for pump gas or E85 blends but no recommended for straight. You OTS maps will due just fine.

O that's good to know. I thought you could run straight e85 with stage 2 lpfp

A single walbro 450lph will outflow what the HPFP can keep up with from my experience in product development. About e65-e70 the HPFP starts dropping below safe pressures. E60 seems to be a nice safe zone to mix up, both pumps seem to be happy on a stock turbo FBO car.

I would definitely investigate LPFP upgrade options and probably look at making the jump from Cobb to MHD and all the wonderful benefits it provides.

Thank you everyone for the responses, sounds like getting a LPFP is a strong move prior to custom mapping. About to get my car back from body shop where it has been for 3 months after a deer incident.

Perhaps a LPFP in summer

Any recommendations for monitoring the level of e85 in the tank? bluetooth sensor and phone? or a std gauge?
