ER Charge Pipe fitment issue

Hi guys, I picked up my brand new ER CP+TiAL bov combo on Monday and as I was trying to install everything yesterday, the throttle body end of the charge pipe does not want to fit and I was not able to secure the C clip. Has anyone had this similar issue before?

Similar issue to the following thread, but mine is N54 and I believe this guy has N55:

Pictures:

I believe I have placed the O ring correctly?

Please advise! Thanks!

Do you have a welded piece on your pipe that sticks out so you can bolt it down so it stops the movement? If so make sure thats not hitting anything

I could make that piece on my ER pipe to sit just like my OEM pipe so that's fine, I believe it's the inside of my ER pipe that is not letting me to slide the pipe on...thank you for the advise though!

Looks like the flange may have been incorrectly machined or warped. Contact ER or the reseller you purchased from, they should be able to take care of you.

Is it too tight not allowing to fully seat or is it just coming in on an odd angle?

If odd angle, secure it at TB first, then secure everything else afterwards.

If it's out of round or something else, send to ER/Seller for advisement.

I have the ER long with DV. It was difficult to get the clip on, more difficult than I anticipated, but it went on. I used a little lube on the oring, and a little on the tb. I really muscled it into place and held it while installing the clip.

I'm not sure if this works, but I've seen on the fmic install video that the clip is installed in the closed position before the hose is connected. When the hose is pressed on properly the clip makes an audible click.

Ya I tried securing it at TB first. I will take a picture of the flange later today...

Thanks for the response, did you feel anything blocking you from sliding it in or did you feel like you could wiggle it in? My buddy and I were using all our forces to push it in but no luck...

The problem that I have is that I could not get the CP to fit perfectly and thus the C clip cannot rest on where it is supposed to be...

It's hard to tell from the pics, but that looks okay to me. When I installed mine it almost felt as if the oring was pushing the cp back; kind of springy; lacked a real solid y connected feel. I did have trouble getting one side on, but as I said, I really muscled it into place. I was worried that it would leak, but knock on wood, I don't have a leak add of yet, and it's been installed for a couple of months now.

You could try heating the flange with a hair dryer or heat gun and see if that helps.

Can't tell much from the pics. I had to use a little oil as lube to slide it on. I cleaned off a little corrosion on the TB with sand paper and cleaned it off that way everything went on a smooth clean surface.

I've installed countless ER CP's without a hitch. Several times on my own vehicle too.

That being said, contact ER for advisement if you think it's defective. They have an extremely tight jig and excellent quality control so its doubtful it's defective but of course anything is possible.

The absolute only way I could get my charge pipe onto the throttle body properly was by unbolting the throttle body housing. The housing is secured by only 4 easy-to-access bolts. Be careful not to drop them down the engine compartment as that's very easy to do. After removing the bolts, I had both the throttle body housing and the charge pipe out of the engine compartment and in my hands. I could easily slide both of them onto each other and secure it with the C clip.

I then was able to install the entire charge pipe with throttle body housing attached to it. I lined up the throttle body housing and tightened down the 4 bolts and then installed the intercooler side of the charge pipe.

After a 2 day ordeal, I'm convinced it was the only way I would ever be able to get it onto the throttle body properly. There was just no other way I could contort the charge pipe while in the engine bay to sit flush with the throttle body housing.

I found the suggestion buried in somewhere here in the threads after hours of searching and it worked wonders.

Thank you for the responses! Heating and cleaning are great ideas. Will try to install again today. Never thought of removing the throttle body but I guess this is my ultimate resort. Wish me luck!! Lol.

This is exactly how I did it. However, my clamp never "clicked" into place. It's just sitting over the o-ring. Unlike the OEM CP, I can now take the clamp off with no effort. I'm certain it shouldn't be this way, but my CP is yet to pop off, soooo......

I'd stay away from the heating idea, it simply shouldn't require that and you don't want to ruin the finish on the anodized black.

It really shouldn't be that much effort but every car does respond different.

Honestly, yea. Whatever helps it slide on easier... how do we make this not sound dirty?

At least Vaseline is petroleum based??? LOL

I was on work computer and I was googling using exact words "is vaseline a good lube" and then I realized it meant something else LOL hahaha

Anyway I removed the four bolts that hold the throttle body which allowed me to use more force without worrying about breaking something..here's what I have so far...

Is this good enough?
