More N55 PURE Stg2 Dyno Results

Hey guys,

We tested and tuned a 2010 335i N55 6AT today.

No meth, No PI. Just e40 in the tank. (91 with a few gallons of e85)

Pretty sweet for such a simple build!

-FBO
-BMS JB4
-Fuel-It Stage2 LPFP
-PURE Stg2 Turbo Upgrade

Power and curve look awesome! Is there anyway you can post a graph that overlays a stock, FBO, stage 1 and stage 2?

It would be great to see a comparison of the power bands of the different upgrades to help someone like me who is looking to upgrade soon.

i see high pid gain numbers, is this normal to put high pid gain for larger turbo to decrease the tuning problems ?

What about pid do you see? PWM is in the log and is only at 50%. It is at 100% at spool up which is a stock setting.

Solid numbers.

BTW, my Pure stage 1 has been installed for over 20,000 miles as of this week. Still running great. Maybe when I get 100,000 miles on it, I'll send it in for an exchange with a Stage 2 setup!

PWM is at 50-60%, which shows the turbo is working very efficiently.

That would allow a little more HPFP capacity, but then it becomes a balancing act due to the lower octane. It would be close to the same.

However, if you used an unleaded race gas with 0% ethanol, and a back end flash with a little more ign timing, you could probably squeeze it up to 500whp without meth or pi.

So this car has no back end flash, just a custom jb4 map?

Also, let's say I did this setup and went on a trip with no access to e85. Would I be able to just put it on map 0 or 1? What would someone do in that situation? I can keep e85 at home but it's not very available around here....

Yes exactly, simply switch it back to map 0 or 1 or 2 or 5.

Hey man, I am getting a pure onto my car soon too. I plan to do a cobb only set up like you. Did you have to change the tmap? and if you did what did you use?

Yes, this power level is no problem for the 6AT. 600ft/lbs is usually where higher mileage 6AT transmissions start slipping.

400whp on 93 pump will be easy and efficient with the Stage 2.

Nice numbers. Have you done any hard road driving in this car yet? Other forum members with N55 Pure Stage 2 turbo have had trouble with misfires when running E85 blends, even with Fuel-It Stage 2 LPFP, which were not resolved until adding TBI.

Doc, we should all be happy with the Pure 2 results of 450 whp and most likely higher torque, on readily available gas and some greenie corn byproduct. This setup sounds darn powerful. Especially from a 183 cubic inch beast. The thought of an engine with less displacement than my old man's '68 283 Impala, and providing both '69 427 tripower numbers and having good gas mileage to boot. What more can we all want?

I'm just wanting to know if the car runs well on E40 off the dyno under real world driving conditions with just the Fuel-It stage 2 LPFP as the only fueling system upgrade. Others have had to add TBI in order to eliminate misfires, so if Pure has accomplished that without TBI or PI that is excellent!

Good numbers but without flash tuning this will have issues off the dyno guaranteed. Its been proven time and time again that tgere are drivability issues as well as various codes that pop up due to not having an appropriate flash to deal with ethanol blending. Why only 20psi? Isn't there more in them?

I hear ya. The absolute power hungry dogs are blazing the trail, and sorting this all out for us. I'll soon be going with the Fuel-It hpfp and tbi. As Fuel-It got something like 550 / 580 with that config, I'd be OK with dialing it back a few points, to have a factor of safety, and maybe spare my rear tires. Now if I can find a vendor willing to share how to do it once the hardware is installed. Spec 3 + and MFactory first, so I don't sit there, frying my clutch. Good times ahead for us N55ers. Unfortunately we still won't get respect from the N54 boys, as their Pure 2 is getting some sick numbers..

Lol, time and time again. The people who are actually pushing their stage 2 actually removed their flashes because the flash caused a significant amount of problems. 20psi is safe, they probably didn't want to push it on the stock fuel system.

Would this turbo upgrade offer any benefit for those with a Dinan tune, PPK, or no tune at all?
