Need my VCG changed out, can anyone on these boards recommend a local shop with lots of BMW experience? Dealer wants 1100, I wouldnt pay more than half that.

Looking for outstanding work at reasonable prices, just like Dan used to provide. Yeah yeah I know, gluck with that, figured it couldn't hurt to ask.

I brought my car to Angel at KingKoupe Auto. BMW master mechanic opened up his own shop. May not be as cheap as Lily but definitely honest and does quality work. See my thread in f30post about the repair he did on my f30 335i.

yes right by there. not a body shop.. i actually just asked them for a quote for vcg and it was 6.5 hours of labor.. they might be able to do a little better for me, but i'll let you know what i find.

Call MPI (Miami Performance Inc) they will b able to help you out for sure dude. And it will be done professionally. I don't trust anyone else with my Bimmer TBH. -Gohan335i7N54----

6.5 hours of labor for a VCG is rape.. I'd say 3 hours max, having done this twice on my own with hand tools in my garage, def not a mechanic shop by any means so I'd imagine they could get it done even faster..

unfortunately its not about how long it actually takes them.. shops usually quote you by the book initially.. haggling is what gets it down.. i haven't called back, but i doubt i'd get anything better than 4 hrs. some shops that do the job regularly and know your savvy might give you a more down to earth quote, but it is what it is. If anyone gets quoted for 3 hours of labor do let me know, i'd happily do that instead of wasting a day doing it myself.
