07 and 08 n54 , same engine right ? cooling and revs

Sup ya'll, bought me another toy. So I have owned a 08 sedan 335i for about a two years now and just purchased a 07 coupe 335i. Sedan is auto and coupe is manual. In short the 08 seems to rev up/breathe faster than the 07 and the oil temps are always colder on the o8. The 07 has 96,000 miles and Ive ranked up 170,000 on the 08 as a daily. I wonder if its just that the 07 is still "tight" in specs and hasnt developed full break in ? Both stock no mods. dISCUSS

07 might have been a early build before the oil cooler so that would explain the higher oil temps.

They both have the external oil cooler under the passenger front fender. Im going to pull the liner and blow the cooler out, maybe its dirty/ clogged ?

I think that anyone would agree that 96K is more than adequate for "break-in". :-)

Both same engine. Have a look to see if there are any vacuum or boost leaks for a start.

Think about getting a walnut blast done as well.

Walnut blast for sure. Is there an "easy" way to inspect the valves with a long inspection camera tool?

AT has shorter gearing, maybe that's why you feel it revs up faster?

All N54 equipped cars have the same engine.. There was never more then one physical version of the engine. Some peripherals may be different and if its an IS it will have slighting more robust tuning.

so upon cleaning the engine bay and getting ready to replace my ofh gaskets I found that one of the nipples on the vaccum canisters had broken and the previous owner "glued" a nipple in there..was probabaly leaking cause I barely touched it and the hose came off. What the HELL / They only cost $45 bucks. I hate to say, but if you cant afford to fix things right you shouldnt be owning a car like this. My thought is that I should have got a code for poor and or no vaccum ? yes / no ?

There could be a ghost code somewhere on the car, 30FF possibly but looking at how the previous owner of the car did their maintenance, I suspect this is just the beginning of your maintenance issues..
