More info on E92 LCI Headlight Retrofit ?

So I've been reading for at least a year on how to accomplish this task. (well before I even owned the E92) I'd like to do this retrofit one day and create a "How-to" thread in order to consolidate all the information in one place. Currently, the information is scattered across different forums, years apart, and the person doing the retrofit never really confirms it's been completed properly. (No errors, etc) So here's what I already know:

These parts need to be replaced with LCI parts: Headlights (including 2 LED modules, 1 xenon ballast, 1 adaptive control; per headlight), the hood/bonnet, kidney grills, front bumper, "max bros" FRM3, and something called a "repair kit" for the headlights. (I think due to a pin difference?) Not a big deal for me since I'd like to upgrade to an M sport bumper anyways, so only a couple pieces are extra baggage.

What I don't know is the wiring, or coding. Is there a pin difference in the cable from pre LCI to LCI? Also, I've heard that the Corona Rings won't stay lit or have sufficient power supplied unless you "change the manufacturing date" of the car in the FRM3 or ECU. Secondly, I saw a thread where a guy tried to fit a 335is bumper (for the fog delete) but couldn't due to the intakes being too large for a pre LCI car. Is this the same case for a regular M sport bumper?

Basically if anybody knows anything, please share! I don't want to take on this task until a) I can get a good deal on headlights, and b) I know for sure it will work properly (for example, proper angel eye voltage) without errors.

Like I said I've heard there are problems like AE's turn off 10 seconds later, or don't turn on with low beams, aren't being given enough voltage, etc.

Good news, if anyone cares :P Everything is coming together well. I'm only waiting on the bumper & hood to be painted, and the FRM3 is on the way. I have everything else I need. The part list ended up being much longer than I had anticipated and thus a bit more expensive... ouch. Each headlight needs 2 LED modules for the rings, a control module for said LED modules, a turn signal LED module, a control module for said turn signal LED module, adaptive control module, and cornering light module.

Not only that, but the SE bumper -> M Sport conversion requires new wheel well covers, brake ducts, oil cooler duct, bumper, left/right & center grids, fog lamp supports (of which there are many variations!), fog lights, LCI kidney grills, LCI bonnet... and probably something else I forgot to mention.

Oh, and a ton of screws and clips.

If I managed to get the correct parts, I can probably have it done this month, or the next considering unforeseen events. I have a very kind fellow helping me out on the coding side of things, he's already done the LCI conversion. Otherwise I might pay a coder in the coding forum to do it. Either way if this all comes together (which I'm confident it will) I'll make a thread with all the part numbers of the parts I bought, what I did, price, tips etc. Consolidated guide for all to read

i have done it !!!!

FRM3 module is crucial i also changed the OEM bulbs to osram xenarc CBI 5500k intense blue.

make sure each module for the headlight is correct. there is a module for the LED indicator..one for the DRL itself as well

wiring i kept the same. i cut the cable for the corner amber LEDs.. the angels don't dim with xenons on but i like it that way.

Would love to do this if the additional parts (FRM3, modules, etc etc) weren't necessary. This seems like a 2-3k+ project.

Nice! Funny, I have the same Osram bulbs ready to be used with the headlights too. I double checked everything on realoem so I'm certain I have the right parts. Did you code yourself or have someone else do it? Also why did you cut the corner led wire?

I'm at around 4-5K USD right now. But I bought the bumper and hood directly from BMW. You could get it cheaper for sure in the US. Not to mention I'll be selling my pre-lci bumper, hood, headlights and modules to make a good amount of money back.

Because it can't be coded lol. So I just cut the wire. I can revert back with a simple solder.

Adaptive headlights w/ osram bulbs is a new experience at night.

OP's first post wanted to put all together for benefit to others converting to LCI. He didn't come through with his own want. I know thread is almost 6 years old. Only point is he contradicted himself.

I own an LCI so don't need it for my car. However, a friend has asked me to redo his wife's 2008 E93 (pre LCI)headlights and this is why I'm here.

Anyone here know what clear lenses to use on pre LCI Xenon projectors please? Specifically for 2008 E93 (same as E92).

I know how to focus clear lenses as I've used clear Sti-R on E90, Lexus rx350, and clear ZKW-R lenses on Acura TL. thanks
