2010 318d e90 Titan Silver Business Edition
Hello all
I have posted up in the newbie section and a couple of other threads and thought it was about time I got some pictures of the car up and started my own thread. This is my first BMW after a lifetime of VWs, mainly Mk2 golfs with a Mk6 and Mk7 daily. My last Mk2 was featured in The Golf+ mag back in 2009 and was built with the help of J-Tech and Paynes body shop. It was an original paint 16v GTI that we fitted an OEM Edition 1 interior too, tarted up the engine - fully blue printed 1906cc 16V running twin webber with lightened and balanced bits, 8x15 BBS RMs front, 9x15 BBS RMs rear, custom stainless exhaust, KW coil overs and a fully poly bushed. Otherwise it was as it came from the factory. Lovely car. Anyway, onto the BMW. I'd been out of the car scene since 2010 as I sold the MK2 and was running around in an M reg E-Class coupe (320 24v straight 6) that was killing my wallet. I went to the local VW dealer and traded it in for a Mk6 on a pcp. This lead to a Mk7 which had a few warranty issues. Getting fed up with the dealer, I simply traded it in for an e91. I've always liked the e91 having test driven a new one a couple of years ago (2014). This Titan Silver Business Edition came up and I had to have it. I must admit it was a buy from the heart not the head, as in hindsight I think I would have preferred one of the bigger engines, but it is in good nick with only 50k on the clock and it got me out of the dreaded PCP circle. The only issue is the washer pump filters need cleaning. It is a perfect introduction to BMWs and there will be plenty of time for bigger engines in the future, as if I am being honest, I'm really enjoying driving it! I'm sure with a few adjustments to the chassis/ suspension the handling must be even crisper but I have to say for a big(ish) estate car it is brilliant fun. The M Sport suspension and wheels probably help though. I've already added some black grilles which I could on here for a very reasonable price. The list of future mods is growing slowly! Mostly aesthetic for the time being, but wheels are certainly on the list and a visit to see Sean at Iridium Engineering for a possible tune. They seem to look so good on 19s. It is a shame they don't do the MV3 in a 19 as they are lovely wheels IMO. Thanks for reading if you've got this far. Nice, do love the LCI E91. Wish I could justify the cost of converting my pre-LCI to a LCI but maybe one day. As stock wheels go I do like the look of the MV3's. Just a shame that with the run flat tyres they are prone to cracking. Looking forward to the progress!

Cheers fella. Just sorted the washer bottle filters that were clogged. Stupid place for a washer bottle if you ask me!
Had a quick look at the front wheels when I did it, no cracks, but the car came with P-Zero's on so I'm guessing at some point the previous owner swapped them out as they have a fair bit of tread left. The sad thing is, they have had a bit of a poor quality repaint at some point. Still nothing that can't be sorted out later down the line and not really that noticeable unless up close. |

Cheers lads. Just seen that some twat knocked my near side mirror and cracked the black trim round the lense. Almost fell over when BMW said that its only £27 to replace! Happy days.
I keep getting drawn to CSL and BBS CH style wheels but they seem like BBS RMs/ RSs were on Mk2 golfs, timeless but quite common. I think a call to CM Wheels is in order once I've done the front discs and pads. £340 from BMW for the front end!!!! |
