Some questions regarding FRM2 to FRM3
I've got an E92 with FRM2. I'm looking into doing an LCI headlight retrofit. I have only done a little coding in my life so I'm far from adept at it. I had some questions.
1) I know I need an FRM3, though I'm not sure if it has to be a MAX Brose unit. What is the difference between MAX Brose and the other ones? (Such as E90 E91 LED Basis, E70, etc) 2) Can these be coded to work with my car if they are used? 3) Any pin differences with FRM2 and FRM3? |

Why are you under the impression that you need FRM3 to get LCI headlights/taillights toi work?
That is not true and you can get them to work on FRM2. I've coded many cars for this retrofit. Some even on FRM1 cars. |

I am by no means certain I need an FRM3, I'm only going off what those who did the retrofit said. (I probably shouldn't have worded my original post "I know I need FRM3") They claimed the LED light elements (corona rings/eyebrow/turn signal) won't work properly without an FRM3. (rings turn off after 10 seconds, don't light up in certain headlamp switch positions) Could you shine a bit more light on the process? I'd really appreciate it! There's almost no information on the coding process of E92 LCI headlight retrofit. (that I could find)

Alright, from a post about a user's E70 LCI headlight retrofit:

This "pulse power" is actually pulse width modulation (PWM) which can be coded to create various effective voltage levels, or can be completely coded out for selected outputs such as for the angel eyes. You do not need an FRM3 for this, just someone who knows how to correctly code the FRM.
