E92 n55 carbon fiber body parts
I am somewhat new here but not to bmw. Also newer to the e92 line i am an old e46 owner. i have been looking to do some weight reduction and just simply also go for the carbon fiber route. It has been my experience that most sites get the old e92 and the n55 model mixed up. i was mostly looking for a Roof, hood, and trunk lid as of now. also most of the sites i have found are selling these as cosmetic swaps, not giving any values for the weight reduction it gives as well. Any suggestions?

could be the sites you're reading are confusing you maybe? E9X is the model of the car, N54/55 is the engine depending on what year you have. As far as where to purchase with the criteria you described, hopefully somebody will chime in, I can't help you there.

i know it won't save tons of weight but no-one is even willing to post the comparative weight from a stock hood to a carbon fiber one ect. and most metal body part swaps are as costly as carbon fiber ones if not more if you really look at the sites i have

it was my understanding that the e9x refers to the m3"s and not the lower models is this not correct? as i said I'm newer to this forum and really just looking to get as much non opinion knowledge as i can

So why bother? ANd that also begs a question, why a heavy car like the E9x?

i live in CO so i needed awd and there aren't any e46 options that have comparable hoarse power and i wanted to go with a stock turbo engine and go from there. so i needed to graduate out of the e46 line and i knew these were heavier. i like that carbon fiber is lighter and i also like the look, i also want to know when i purchase parts they were built with a purpose, not simply cosmetic

and also this is just tip of the iceberg, i will be doing more and more down the road as far as performance goes as i can gather more and more info, as i said with the n55 model as i specifically wanted its tougher finding mods

You're better off buying a VRSF exhaust and shaving 42lbs, lightweight wheels, and getting rid of runflats. It's not like the aluminum hood, trunk, and plastic bumpers are heavy to begin with. None of these areas are useful investments in performance. If you want to go further, remove the interior trim, backseat, and trunk carpeting.

i was looking in to light weight wheels, any suggestions? and i was looking in to exhaust as well. one big reason for the carbon fiber is the previous owner had the roof wrapped with carbon fiber vinyl. so it motivated me to finish the job and go from there.

Rear seats, engine cowl, lightweight wheels, exhaust ...etc. Do a Google search, many threads on this
