Just thought I would share my wrap job on my e90. I went with the 3M brushed steel and could not be happier with the outcome. I have the chestnut brown Dakota interior. I will take some more photos soon for people who have this interior and want to see how it looks. Here is a picture:

Very nicely done! How much did you end up needing to ensure the direction was consistent throughout?

It definitely beats spending 1k on oem replacements or trying your luck with used!

5x2 roll was enough for all wood trim. Had some left over so I did the shift knob as well. Nice match

I've heard that with brushed you need a decent amount of extra to get the lines going horizontally ...

Similar issue wth CF, but I think you need even more with brushed.

5 foot by 2 foot roll. I ordered it from Amazon for around $50. 5x2 is more than enough as long as none goes to waste. This wrap is very forgiving though when applying it.

Quick question. I went to do mine the other week and when taking the big center/right side dash trim off I couldn't get the damn plugs out for the hazards, lock, and dtc. Any tips? I ended up giving up when I couldn't get them off haha

I did mine a couple weeks ago (made a DYI video on my YouTube) and that part was frustrating. But all you do is pull really really hard.

Nice job, OP!

Thanks, I'll have to watch your video and try again. I tried using needle nose pliers and ended up breaking part of the plot for the DTC/lock and couldn't get the hazards one off.

I would recommend taking off all the air vents from the back of the two dash room trims and taking off the I drive controller from the center piece. This makes it really easy to cut and shape it into the round corners and edges.

Did mine a few months ago, ended up with twice as much vinyl as I needed:

Did you guys have issues with the vinyl? I was going to do the exact same thing with the brushed steel vinyl, but it kept ripping at seems of the grain. I would add heat, but it just made it more brital! Then I thought, eff it! So I took it all off. Wow what a pain in the ass, it kept peeling off in tiny chunks, I could for the life of me get it to come off in one nice sheet.
Does the vinyl go bad? I know I messed with some carbon vinyl on my other car, and did not have anywhere near the issues I had with this brushed shit.

Looks great! Wanted to do carbon fiber look to go over the wood trim, but the wood trim has honestly grew on me since having the car for three weeks.

I was going to go with carbon but I didn't want to have a cheap look as it obviously not real carbon fiber. I think the brushes steel is a clean oem look

If you get vinyl don't go with anything other than 3m brand. They make high quality vinyl and you should not have any issue applying it. Don't force it on by stretching . Get enough vinyl, I got 5x2 feet and it was more than enough. Just apply it on and then once you smooth it out apply heat to take out wrinkles and its will harden, making it more durAble and last as long as you want it to. I messed up one of my trim pieces and it came off all in one piece. Don't over due the heat either maybe you had trouble because you applied to much heat??

yeah, use heat very sparingly! The less stretching and heating you have to do, the better. Take the time to lay the pieces out before, and peel/stick carefully, you should be fine. I have some wrinkled corners where there are sharp bends, but overall it turned out well for a few hours of effort (and never having done it before!)
