Pump it. Pump it real good... Water pump & 'stat replacement options?
Throwing a P0597 code at ~70K miles, so I am replacing my stat, pump, and the ancillary bits down there.
ECS offers a couple of different makes on the water pump & thermostat and I didn't find much info about the various brands on the InterWebs. Any issues or preference for the three options available? For the H2O pump there's the OEM BMW part, Vemo, and Pierburg. The non-BMW options run about $100 or so cheaper. The 'stat is similar with the OEM, Mahle-Behr, Vemo, & Wahler options. The non-BMW options run about $40-$50 cheaper.

I also have a stuck open thermostat. I feel like it is slow from a standstill but once I get going it runs fine. Also the fan noise is crazy loud and I think that eventually the water pump will fail from constantly running.
Having it replaced Monday. |
