Anyone try Philips XtremeVision H8 for Corona Rings/Angel Eyes?

I tried a search but could not find anything so I apologize if there is already a thread.

Has anyone tried the Philips XtremeVision H8 for the Corona Rings or Fog Lights? Wondering if I should try them.

http://www.usa.philips.com/c-p/78719...n-led-fog-lamp

They look nice. High quality.

I'd try to find the wattage. If they're too low, you definitely won't get the look you're wanting. I had some low wattage ones and only one eye would light up on each side because it wasn't strong enough to get to the second.

Yeah, I hear ya, they are 150 USD a set - 9.3 W each. They are fog light replacement and are super bright so I wondered how they are as AE or Fogs.

I just bought 1156 VISION LED stop lamps and they are amazing.

9.3 Watts each are definitely not enough for Angel Eyes. Mine are 120W each and the Lux's are 160W each.

Well the 9.3 watt is probably the actual wattage used. unfortunately there is no direct correlation to wattage used and brightness.

How much actual wattage does the Lux 160 use?

Looking forward to the pics! Don't forget to take pics of the angel eyes from at least 20-30 feet away. Thanks!

Most angel eye kits will mimic the same wattage as stock as to not throw errors and not pull more power then stock wiring can handle.

Admittedly as LUX has mentioned the wattage talk is pretty moot.

Focus on lumens if you want to talk about output.

To the OP, I don't think you'll find those working to your liking. If they didn't produce errors, I'd still be concerned with actual output.

The current angel eye offerings house their LED in a specific manner to maximize output.

In the fog lights they'd work better but again, you need to worry if they will error out or not.

Were you able to try these out?

There's a thread in "General" where these are brought up and I found this thread via a search as I was curious to see if others had tried!

Wow looks beautiful. What's reassuring is that these aren't some random branded H8 bulbs, it's a Philips product. I've never seen both rings light up so bright the way they do in this video and the Z4 video.

Hmmm... interesting. Comments on vid also say no codes, interference, etc. Seems like a simple plug and play. This is getting more and more tempting, but alas, I am trying to save for down payments for a house and the car that will ultimately replace the ol' E90, so no go for me. The way I see it, if I'm consistently able to talk myself out of getting these, then I probably shouldn't. :P

For anyone else interested, Pep Boys has them for $105 after 30% off via coupon code MMJ30: https://www.pepboys.com/product/details/1306518/00871

I did it! I couldn't resist the 30% off and decided to give them a try.

I just finished installing them and THESE ARE SO BRIGHT. I've never seen angel eyes this bright, the outer ring is PERFECTLY fully lit.

I'll have to look at them during the day tomorrow, if they still look too bright during the day then I'll use them as fog lights. But so far I've not seen any bulbs fully light up the outer rings the way these do. The color is a beautiful 6000K.

Tonight I found these bulbs on clearance at my local Canadian Tire store. Regular price at CAD$169.99 a pair went down to CAD$114.99! With 13% HST they came out to just under CAD$130 for the pair -- what a steal! I'll be installing them for my E90 LCI angel eyes soon. Really looking forward to the outcome!

With 3 year warranty and 12 year expected lifetime, at this price they are a no-brainer!

Do you have anything to compare these to other than the stock bulbs? I'm sure that would be helpful for everyone to see as well

I have a friend with LUX 180's. They're insanely bright and I was going to go with them as well....but I couldn't resist trying a new one because my brain is just dumb like that.

I also have some knockoff amazon 40 dollar ones AND a pair of old school Weischlight springy prong style.
