Folks,
Very happy with my Continental DWS 06 tires and want to make sure they last on my 2011 328i Xdrive - tires are 17 inch all around, not staggered. On a previous pair of michelins I barely got any mileage out of them because I never rotated them and want to rotate these Continentals before they start to wear too unevenly: 1 - Four tires were put on brand new, and only have 4,428 miles on them - I didn't check the specific amount of wear per tire but I drove through a very light winter with minimal snow here in Boston - Any advice on when I should rotate them ? Wait until 6,000 miles roughly ? Thanks in advance!! |

Always great connecting with another Bostonian driver. If you drove a light winter at about 4k, I would probably rotate at or near 8k if I were in your situation.
If you have the ability to rotate every 6k, that's fine too - it's really your preference. If you are just trying to make them last, the more you rotate them the longer they might last - but overall, I rotate between 8k and 10k. That tire should last you at least 40k if you drive patiently. I'm about to go to the Conti DWS 6 tire as well. How is it as far as being quiet? I know the grip from the DWS was amazing, just curious if it got any quieter? Thank you and good luck. ![]() |

I rotate my tires every oil change, which is 6000 km.
The DWS are not directional, so it is also a good idea to rotate them so every tire ends up on every corner at some point. Move the back tires to the front, and cross the front tires to the rear. Four rotations, and each tire will have been on every corner. This will go a LONG way preventing them from getting noisy as they wear. Last edited by MightyMouseTech; 03-29-2016 at 08:37 AM.. |

My 2001 330xi book said not recommended, but if you do maximum 3,000 miles max. My 2010 335d recommends against it. My wife's 328xd says "different wear patterns occur f/r" but "can be rotated". |

thanks for the advice everyone - started off with run flats, ditched those (against BMW's advice ![]() GTI6CyL - good to meet you too and thnak you - and I fully endorse the DWS 06, they have been a fantastic all around tire for this car. To answer your question. they are very quiet I would say, I don't hear a thing. They probably offer about 85 % of the razor sharp grip of the Michelin A/S 3s, but still handle very well overall and are MUCH smoother and you feel less of the impacts on the rutted roads here. I have no reason to buy any other tire at this point. And the dWS 06s were much excellent in the snow, noticeably better than the A/S 3s from Michelin. Now my only complaint is wishing I had an actual sport suspension - probably my next project - combing through the millions of posts on how to make an e90 era Xdrive ride a little better - will probably go with Koni yellows and Eibach springs - but only time will tell. |
