Edit: Car battery died, and it's a new battery.

After making a long drive four hours my brother noticed that Mike BMW was making a buzzing/humming sound for more than 10 minutes but after opening and then closing the driver door it went away.

I put a new battery in the car three weeks ago, exact same size and cranking amps as the battery it replaced. I was told I didn't need to have it coded as it was the same battery. However that I needed to have it programmed to let the car know that it was new. I haven't had the car coded yet. I'm gonna go to get it coded tomorrow could this have caused any damage?

I think you need to let the car know it's a new battery

My car just died. Battery dead and it's only a week or 2 old.

This is why you're supposed to register it, the car/alternator needs to know a new battery is put in to charge it appropriately (and not under/over charge it).

Also the battery should be replaced with the same type (agm/nonagm) and the same size, if it isn't, it needs to be programmed for the car to know as well.

Yes I understand that. I was told that I could wait and that a week wouldn't hurt it. However that was wrong. I got a jump from my father however the car just started way too fast to be a dead battery, it almost seemed like right before I got the jump that the car was going to start on its own. Do these cars have a way of shutting off the Power from the battery and then turn the current back on?

Here is a video of the sound I am getting. Also my angel eyes are stuck on when the car is on. They can turn off only when the Key isn't in the ignition.

If your original battery died, there is no grace period for registering the new one. As stated already, the car will not charge the new battery properly.

Happened to me last week. I dropped in a new battery, but it took me another day before I could register it. During that 24 hour period, the car continued to give me error messages pertaining to a low battery charge and comfort access wouldn't work. This, despite my leaving the car on a Battery Tender+ overnight.

After registering the new battery everything is simpatico.

As I already owned a Carly for BMW dongle and app, it only cost me $10 to do the registration.
