Walnut blasting gets them cleaner but they are 90% better looking.

I spent about 4 hours cleaning mine with all types of carb cleaner and they look similar.

Wow. I can only imagine that mine looks like that. I don't feel like doing it myself though and I don't feel like paying someone $400 to do it haha. Guess I'll have to get off my ass and do it at some point soon.

If you guys have ever done walnut blast yourselves you would know that the walnut blasting gets it about 90-95% clean. You then follow up with some carbon cleaner (I use GM top engine cleaner). You can see that my "after" pictures have a few walnut shells in the intake still...

It's more of a maintenance item but most people notice a difference in both idle and performance. Carbon buildup can cause misfires in rare occasions

Speaking of OCD, I had my intake valves cleaned by Rob@SoCalBMWInstalls and this looks like an OCD job. A lot cleaner than those pics posted up there lol
