Who wants latest Aust Nav DVD #14 with speed camera POI's?
If someone sends me a copy of their #14 E92 DVD, I'll return them a copy with the speed camera POI's added. Anyone interested, send me a PM!

The issue is that the BMW navi does not display them. I have been talking to one of the master techs at BMW Sydney and he is looking into it for me. Now if you know how to make them display on the navi I'll more than happily send you a copy ![]() |

Interesting. Can you display other POI's such as restaurants?
If you can send me a directory listing of the files on the DVD I can tell you whether or not they can be displayed. Perhaps the Progman version needs updating. What version are you on? I'm on 27.1.2

I suspect the answer to making the "black spots" display may be found somewhere in this post:
http://www.m5board.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=73267 It seems very complicated, but there is probably enough detail to be able to achieve a workable solution, so long as the file (on the new nav disk) listing the "black spots" is in this .asc file format. |

BMW Sydney emailed me today indicating the system cannot display the school zones or alert points. I promptly emailed them back indicating on P92 of their current magazine the full page ad says it can & that false & misleading advertising is not legal in this country ... will see what response I get. I have taken some screen shots of the disk structure, shoot me an email and I will send the pics to you (too lazy to post them). |

The attached file is from version 14 of the E90 compatible Navigation disk. This file is the main configuration file of the system. In the TPD-CAT and TPD-ICO sections there is no mention of "black spots", "school zones" or "traffic cameras" (or any sort of camera, for that matter). The same applies to the corresponding file for US English, so switching the default language of iDrive will not make these POIs appear either.
![]() Have you had any satisfaction from BMW on the matter of the BMW Magazine article, Stuart? |

So I will wait until that has been done to my satisfaction and then pursue the navi issue. In the meantime when I get my arse into gear I'll send Graham a copy of the disk so he can add the POI's etc. |

^ Nothing like a good terse letter of complaint. I was surprised how quickly Audi and their dealer responded a few years ago to my letter of dissatisfaction regarding a leak in the steering hydraulics of my A4 Quattro.
On the version 14 Nav disk. The ad indicates that "school zones" and "alert points" are included on the disk. There is no mention of these in the configuration file I posted above. It IS a case of false advertising and has nothing to do with the software version of your iDrive. If coordinates for these zones are present (somewhere) on the disk, there is no way they will be displayed with this configuration file. |

I was just looking at the nav section of the US forum and the 2008 European nav disc displays traffic camera as POI's. So obviously the BMW system has the software to display these providig they are on the nav disc.

I have added speed cameras, red light cameras, Shell Fuel, BP fuel, Gloria Jeans and Sizzler to my version 13. This could be done to version 14 as well.
Many other points of interest can be added from online databases once the nav disc modification software is in place. Attached photos are from my e92 335 with professional navigation. |

Car is parked in my home garage/workshop.
I used Pimp-My-Nav software and downloaded the POI data files from Pocket World GPS. You need to subscribe to get some data such as speed camera files, however there is also a lot of free stuff. Pimp My Nav needs a mod to use Ultra Iso to produce a DVD image and ImgBurn (free) to burn the DVD. Here is a link to Aus POI data. http://www.gps-data-team.com/poi/australia/ Last edited by bimmerron; 06-15-2008 at 07:20 PM.. Reason: add url |

Dear Mr Widjaja
To ensure your Satellite Navigation System knows exactly where you are, and the best routes to take, it pays to upgrade your software. Version 14 of the BMW Satellite Navigation System is now available. It includes: • Major new road project integration such as East Link (proposed roadway), Albury Wodonga Bypass, Tullamarine Freeway (Melbourne), Lane Cove Tunnel (Sydney), Tugun Bypass (Brisbane) • Over 1,000,000km of road network • Over 320,000km of attributed navigable roads It also includes an increased number of places of interest including restaurants, hotels, ATMs and petrol stations. Which is perfect for finding a Caltex station and redeeming your $50 fuel card if you purchase a Satellite Navigation Upgrade before June 30 2008. The recommended retail price for the Version 14 green navigation disc is $446. For further information contact your local BMW Dealership or visit bmw.com.au/version14. Yours sincerely Ken Petrony General Manager – Aftersales |

To Ken Petrony
General Manager – Aftersales Ken, I read your sales pitch with interest but Version 14 isn't available to all BMW owners (unless something has changed recently). This was mentioned in a previous thread but I bought a new BMW 320D in Feb 2008 with a promise from the dealer that the new version 14 was expected soon and it would be posted to me. I picked up the car without any sat nav disc . Six weeks later still no disc, the dealer said there was nothing they could do as they were waiting for the discs from BMW Australia. So I rang BMW Australia and was told that they couldn't get the version 14 Sensis maps to work in the hardware used by my model. They advised me that they had now scrapped trying to get version 14 to work and therefore version 13 was still the current version for my car (like it or lump it). This was very disappointing after being promised the latest version and has definitely sullied my "buying experience". At least I would have expected something from BMW offering a free upgrade when the next one is available. Love the car but hate the sat nav. |
