ZYMOL...etc
Hi all, decided to clean the 5 day old E92 today..dont what they put in the water around here but after a zymol clear auto bathe and towelled off with a mocrowipe i had water spot marks all over my new car, ot looked awful. they may have been there from new as this is the first time i have really instected the paintwork. so i decided i had to go for the HD cleanse and started with the boot lid / bonnet and roof, managed to get all the marks off and then apply a coat of carbon wax and it looks gleaming. with the unprdictable weather decided to quit whil i was ahead and comple the sides/front/back etc next week. 45 mins later a big downpour and i smiled as the water beaded up and rolled off the car..i love zymol.
any of you guys got your first layer of wax on for the year yet? couple of questions, is the conciurs wax THAT much better? Why are the US so anti Zymol and love Zaino so much, anyone used it and any comments. Can i hd cleans and wax my alloys, or just use regular zymol wheel cleaner, id rather the hd/wax option. what can i do about my brake discs which are rusting already? thanks guys happy detailing. scott

About 3 weeks ago I gave mine a good clean and wax and applied some Poorboys wheel sealer to the alloys to hopefully help repel the brake dust. Only washed it once since then and the alloys did seem a bit easier to clean.
Not sure about the Concours wax, but I'm seriously tempted to fork out for a tub of the Titanium Glaze. You should check out Detailing World ![]()

I use Ital Glaze on mine, Carbon wax is very good but I find the Glaze`s easier to apply (by hand) and last longer. I`d go with Z4 beemer on the wheels. You can of course use HD cleanse then wax but its too expensive IMO for the wheels and not designed to repell the brake dust.

I'd recommend trying Dodo Juice waxes too. They might not have the "Zymol" or "SwissVax" names, but they are right up there in terms of longevity and depth of shine. http://www.detailingworld.com is a great resource for anyone interested in detailing.

I've used him a few times to detail my cars, always done a superb job.

Personally, I love zymol titanium and find it excellent. It smells good too!!! But now I use P21s carnauba wax, easier to apply and lasts just as long. On my black cars I get a 'wetter' finish. But its not as good to sniff!!! At least the wasps and bees stay away though

That's useful to know... though I think P21S is now called R222 (in Europe).

I've never used Carbon wax so can't give a direct comparison to Concours, but I would say that the sheeting effect of Concours is more pronounced than the Z4 wax that I used to use on the E46. Is it worth that much? I'm not sure as the more basic waxes give excellent results in their own right. My Sister is using Dodo Juice on her E87 and I'd have to say that the results are impressive. Maybe not quite as effective and long lasting as Concours, but certainly up there with the Zymol Z4. My Father immediately started using it (Dodo) on his car having seen the results. As fas as wheels go the advice that seems prevalent on detailingworld is that you're better off using a sealant than a wax due to the possible effects of brake temperatures. Lots of people seem to use Chemical Guys or Poorboys products, but I've been happy so far using Jetseal109 from cleanandshiny. I need to get out and do some serious detailing on mine, but the weather and a stinking cold just aren't co-operating. ![]()

I use Zymol titanium and love it. Haven't waxed it this year and last year's was stripped by a dealer wash I think (against my request.....). Need to get busy with the clay this time though....
Use Poorboys for the wheels, but you can use Zymol glazes and waxes instead. Many detailers do. Happy rubbing ![]() ![]() |
