I have 2010 E90 with CIC iDrive. In the phone section there is a menu for messages. My phone is Samsung Note 3 and it has been paired with the vehicle. But I don't see any messages in the message section.

Do I need to do anything to get messages on it or does it only work with iPhone?

This may be off base, as I have an NBT unit from a 2015 X5 (and I'm using an iPhone), but I had to go to the bluetooth settings/profile for the car when I'm paired to it [i.e. BMW VIN###] and enable notifications to be sent over. After that, my texts began showing up on the NBT.

I have a 2011 E90 M3 with CIC and the messages show up fine with a Galaxy S5. I don't remember enabling any special settings besides pairing it via bluetooth.

When I was using a Nokia N97 mini all the text messages used to show on the idrive screen.
Now that am using an iPhone 6s,nothing shows up although the phone is properly paired Bluetooth wise.

Still nothing on my Samsung Note 3. I have tried repairing it.

I know I mentioned this earlier, and this may or may not help you guys, but it might help others if they stumble on to this thread so I'm gonna post it up.

I had to enable "Show Notifications" on my iPhone 6 running iOS 9.0.2 for texts to show up. Go to settings -> bluetooth -> next to device name (BMW XXXXXX) press the i with the circle around it -> then this screen pops up. JC, not sure if there is something similar for Android somewhere in the settings.

EDIT: Jesus Christ the screenshot is huge .

nope Android doesn't have that option at least not on mine. I only have sync contacts

If you don't have a Combox installed (option 6VC), you won't be able to use messages from your phone.
