Bilstein B14 Shock Clunking - Pictures!

Hey guys,

I just installed a set of Bilstein B14 coilovers on my car. The fronts are fantastic, however, after installing the passenger rear, I've noticed a new clunking over bumps.

I've attached how I installed the upper mounts and want to make sure I did it correctly since the Bilstein instructions are total garbage imo.

I will likely reseat the spring perch as well and make sure that's not the culprit.

Just focus on the left (Bilstein) shock, which is showing the top end of the shock (trunk side). I took a picture before the shock cover and then after I placed it. Once it went in, I then placed the stock nut with the circular washer that's attached.

I'm not even sure what I'm looking at. Do you have the upper mount hardware on both the bottom and top?

Pretty sure you have it correct, provided your washer on the inside still has the foam. Worth getting the firmer upper shock mounts, whether it's the Monroe (which I have, as do many others on here) or the Powerflex.

I just realized the pictures aren't showing up on that post, it's one I had referred to when I installed mine.

HUGE Thanks for the NAPA part reference. I just went there and picked up 2. Shock is out and it looks like the spring is seated in the perch correctly. PIC 1 - sorry hard to tell.

If I shake the upper silver spring mount, I get some noise. Although, not sure if that could be the cause since I'm doing this with the tire unloaded. I think it most likely has to do with not placing the yellow foam underneath the top nut.

Problem Solved!!! Thanks for the help guys!! It was probably due to the missing top yellow foam (now the black firm rubber replacement under the top nut).

+1 for the NAPA mount again. Having literally just driven the car with and without the stiffer top mount, I would say the difference is notable. Definitely feels a bit firmer and best $10 spent.
