Engine Malfunction, Reduced Power?
2008 BMW 335i Sedan.
87,000 Miles Hello Everyone, On my way to work today I received an "Engine Malfunction, Reduced Power" error. I just did a little research and most people that have had this issue said that it turned out to be a failing Fuel Pump. Has anyone else had this issue and if so what was the cost you ended up paying for repairs at your local BMW dealership? I dont have a warrenty on the car anymore so I'm trying to get an idea on cost before I take it in to my dealership. Any help is much appreciated. |

Reduced power can be for many reasons. You need to pull codes. If it is hpfp, you are covered...bmw extended warranty 10yrs 120k mi.

could be a hundred things, much easier to diagnose once you're able to scan the car.
with that said, hpfp, vanos solenoids, boost leaks are some of the more common causes. |

I also have 2008 335i. with 92000miles. Things that need to be done or could be causing problems at that mileage: carbon build up, spark plugs, coils, and the rest are more expensive. Like one of the posters before me said: you want to pull codes from the car. it will give you a good idea of what the problem could be. You will need to have the stealership, indie shop, or get the software on your own to read the codes. Google Mikes easy bmw install and get a Kdan cable and you can read codes with inpa. I believe Mikes install is missing daten files so you will not be able to code. |
