Yeah, I'm on the Green Cove as well. Looks like arrival is on April 4/5. Mine has to stay at VPC in Oxnard for an additional week for installation of M-tech kit, then off to the dealer. Hopefully, ETA after VPC will be week of April 14.

typed in Green Cove came across your post. I'm on the boat as well, was also told 3/23 to port. My CA mentioned that seemed way too fast since the boat left port of exit on 3/10. Anyhow, he called back and mentioned 4/1 as the "confirmed" date; however i came accross the below:

Looks, like 4/5 to me? Does the boat stop prior to this in SD?

My CA told me 4/2 arrives in Port Hueneme... vessel whatever .com says 4/4.. it's definitely not 3/23...

Good Find DJ9 on that calendar!

I just saw this post and haven't had a chance to check her on AIS radar, yet. I don't know if she's exited the English Channel, but I will check. Once she exits the English Channel, she is not track-able to us amateur trackers for a period of two weeks. She goes into a black hole for two weeks as she makes her way across the Atlantic Ocean to the Panama Canal. The only way she will be track-able is if she shows up on sailwx.info. Most ships don't report on this system, but if she does, that will be good for you. Check out sailwx.info. It is a weather reporting system for ships and it is voluntary. Some ships participate, but most don't. It is up to the captain or bridge staff to make a report.

She is scheduled to reach the Panama Canal on March 25.

http://www.boydsteamship.com/daily_traffic_report.htm

And, she is scheduled to transit the Panama Canal on March 27. You will be able to watch her on three PanCanal web cameras at certain spots along the canal system. Once she exits the canal, it will take her 6-7 days to reach SoCal. Again, I haven't checked the San Diego schedule to see if she is going into SD. I can only check the port of LA schedule seven days prior to her arrival, if she is going there.

This is what she looks like. You will need to know this when she goes by the PanCanal web cams.

Here's the San Diego schedule.

http://www.sdmis.org/schedule/

It doesn't go out far enough, yet. If she is scheduled to transit the PanCanal on 3/27, then she should reach SoCal about 4/2. These schedules do vary sometimes, so we won't know until it gets closer.

I don't see her in the English Channel or on sailwx.info. It is my guess she is out in the Atlantic heading towards the PanCanal. Keep an eye on Boyd's schedule for changes to her arrival into the PanCanal. Keep an eye on sailwx, just in case she reports. Other than that, there isn't a lot you can do, but wait for her to reach the PanCanal.

Once she gets close to the Pancanl you might want to try and get a free subscription to aislive.com. It is hit or miss whether you can get a subscription (some people are successful, some not), but you can track her on radar via this system. The subscription is only good for two weeks, so you don't want to subscribe until she reaches the PanCanal. AIS radar only works when a ship is within 50 miles of a major port, so it won't work while she is transiting the Atlantic Ocean anyways. AIS is the automatic identification system for ship, and all ships over a certain size are required to have a beacon onboard. Paid subscription to this service is $1300/year.

Once she gets closer to SoCal, you can subscribe to another free AIS ship tracking web site. It is shinemicro.com. It has live AIS tracking in the SoCal area. Aislive.com radar tracking has a delay of 30 min to one hour, but shinemicro is live. Shinemicro is better for tracking in and out of the SoCal ports because it is live. It isn't an entirely reliable site, though, but when it does work, it is great.

Also, she could go straight to Port Hueneme, or stop at the port of San Diego, or stop at the port of LA. I have seen it every which way; stop at one or stop at all three.

These car-carrying ships from Bremerhaven carry up to 6000 cars; all BMWs, Mercedes, Porsches, Volkswagons, and any other German-made car. The vehicle prep centers(VPC) for Porsche and Volkswagen are in San Diego, the VPC for Mercedes is in Carson (port of LA/LongBeach), and the VPC for BMW in Oxnard (port Hueneme).

I have a '09 MB SL63 AMG in its final production in Bremen, Germany and I will be tracking her in a couple weeks. This is my second SL I have tracked in two years. The MB forums don't have these tracking threads, so I have been on these threads a long time tracking cars for myself, or friends with Bimmers, or friends with MBs.

I honestly can't track that sucker. None of the sites show where it is at.

I do know that vesseltracker had it plotted on their navigation maps last week; however now it shows " your boat is in an area that is not covered by our systems."

Keep us posted if you find anything

She's not track-able until she gets to the Panama Canal. She is most likely trackable to the shipping companies via satellite, but we don't have that technology on this forum. See post #8 above.

She is due into the PanCanal region on March 25. I am not going to be around to help you guys at that time, as I will be out of town. What I would do is someone on the thread try and get a aislive.com free subscription, as that date approaches. It is only good for two weeks, so don't do it, yet. If someone is lucky to get a subscription, they will be able to track her throught the canal and post maps to the thread (and on web cams which are free to all to watch), and then again, around SoCal as she approaches the port(s). AIS radar is only good within 50 miles of a port, so it is not helpful now out in the ocean. AISlive subscriptions are tricky. Some people get them and some don't. And sometimes you subscribe and don't hear from them for days, so don't be surprised if you don't get a response right away. That is why someone (a couple of you) should try and get a subscription a few days before she is due into the PanCanal. Just because she is showing she is due into the canal on March 25, it can vary by a couple days and you have to watch AIS to be sure when she arrives. A couple of you should try and get a subscription, so at least somebody ends up with one and can follow her through the canal and help out the thread.

If nobody on this thread is able to get a AIS subscription, check the other threads to see if someone else does have it and ask for help. Everyone is really helpful on this forum.

i think we have the hardest boat to track. Seriously, so many other people can track each stage of their vessel.
