Oil usage ...

As with all fluids on BMW where the heck does it go and why so fast? I just had my service done 4k ago and no my trusty electronic oil gauge used to read "Max" is now halfway between "Max and Min". Before my first service I had to go to the dealer and have oil added since it had the low oil light come on a few thousand before service.

Visually check the engine if there are any leaks. Next, check where you park and see if there any sign of oil leak. I'm not quite sure really but depends on how old and how much mileage have you put in your car. But if it's pretty new I would have it check. Check with your dealer if they saw anyting.

I had to add oil at 4500 miles because I got the "add 1qt oil" indicator...I guess these cars burn oil fast.

I have 18k on the car and no signs of any oil leaking in the engine and none on the ground... And no smell of burning oil either.

Break in will cause some oil burn off - and with turbo's you are guaranteed to burn some oil as well. Your warranty is there for a reason - just have them keep topping it off. If it gets worse - there is a problem. If you burn 1qt every thousand miles - time to lemon it.

I wished I lived in CA my car would of all ready been lemoned for other problems.

I guess having good customer protection is a double edge sword since CA cant get some nice toys sold in the state that we can purchase over here in AZ.

Did anyone see there time for service change? First mine said 15000, like it is supposed to, than it jumped to 25000, and slowly kept coming down till it said service at 14,000K.
Anyone else have this happen.
Sucks in Germany to have our cars serviced, we have to pay not like you guys in the States. Also, only 2 year warranty (autobahn), but jumps to the 4 year warranty if taken back to the US.

My car has done the same thing, it started off 15,000 then last week it jumped down to 14,000. I am just a shade over 1,200 miles on the odometer by the way.

I had an engine oil leak at 3200 miles on my '07 335i coupe. Took the service guy awhile to find the source-finally found it way up in the engine using a dental mirror. The tale-tell was a very small stain tracking to the driver door areain the garage-and it didn't feel oily. First thought it was the a/c draining. Low oil light never came on.
