So, I installed my downpipe today..

Finally got the motivation to install my VRSF downpipe that's been sitting in my garage for months. Overall not a bad install; time consuming for sure. I pushed through everything without any issues until I had to re-install the V band clamp; fuck! I bet I was fighting with that for a good 30 minutes on my back. Had to stop, walk away and consult to the almighty e90post. Someone posted they had to pinch the clamp with a pair of pliers to get a bite on the bolt. Wish I would've read that before! All in all, it took about 3 hours from start to finish.

Car feels great! I'm still on stock intercooler w/ charpipe and intake. The car definitely pulls harder and spools up quick. It does help today was a nice 70 degrees outside. I was in the process of installing my 7" VRSF intercooler until I broke my only dremel wheels I had so that will have to wait. I might take the bumper off so I can cut the fins. I want that FMIC up front and center for all to see.

Nice, i also have a VRSF and it makes a solid difference, especially with spool sound and noticably feels more free-flowing right away.

Get that intercooler in! Looks beautiful, i dremeled the fins and the bar so that it would be easier to fit the intercooler. At 15+psi my buddy with downpipes tends to pop intercooler gaskets, and his stock charge pipes, getting all that metal plumbing in definitely gives a piece of mind and great reliability.

You will be really temped to replace the charge pipe when you mate your vrsf (metal) lower charge pipe to your stock one.

I havent went back for any boost leaks since installing my vrsf fmic and er charge pipe, t bolt clamps ftw.

Just ordered a 7 inch VRSF intercooler. Is there a lot of trimming?

Theres not much, a plastic piece about the length of the intercooler, and two plastic fins. Its a piece of cake when you have the bumper off, just sounds intimidating at first, once you see it, you will have no problems chopping it off.

I actually have a VRSF charge pipe and BMS intake already on the car. I bought the additional charge piping for the intercooler as well. Should hold up pretty good. .

I had it on map 5 earlier and saw 17psi.

Being xdrive, thats the only part I didnt install myself, had my buddy at his shop install it for me.

I can say ive been through a couple gaskets though, at the downpipe-midpipe connection.

There is a good amount of trimming because it is a big intercooler but the trimming part is very easy in my opinion

Windows down at a stop light you're going to notice the fumes. Not noticable with the Windows up. Everything is stock minus downpipe.

Thinking about resonators to reduce/eliminate the rasp? Maybe a pair of vibrant 1792's. I'm looking to do the same thing but would love to hear what it would sound like keeping everything else stock.

Great to hear you're enjoying it! We use the same spec/size v-band as the OEM downpipe although since these are coated they tend to add a bit of thickness to the material. They should still bolt right up without issue though

Use some of these if you have them, they work absolutely great. Just normal "Hose Clamp Pliers" Should be able to find them anywhere. There is a perfect spot on the opening of the V clamp for these to bite onto.
