How long can an ordered car sit at a dealer's lot before they can sell it to the public? Reason I ask is, my car might arrive earlier than I expected, and although that is fantastic news, I have yet to sell the current car I am driving now to help pay for the downpayment. I still have a few weeks but, I'm just curious just in case... whats the max period it can sit on the lot

Some dealers have cars that have been on their lot for over a year.They usually try and trade the aged cars ( 200 days and older ).

Sounds like you ordered a car and didn't talk trade in with your dealer. If you don't take delivery because you haven't sold your car yet (or for any reason), then the dealer is free to sell the car immediately to any customer. You can always negotiate a trade in with your dealer, or take your car to carmax, etc.
