Turbo and mods question. Whoosh sounds

I recently upgraded my auto 335i. Got about 83k mines in it. Put jb4, down pipe, FMIC, dual cone burger intakes and burger charge pipe.

So, now when I give it a little throttle I hear the sucking or whoosh sounds as I accelerate. It's not bad when the top is down or windows are down, but if the windows are up, you hear it all the time, unless I really baby it.

Yes, I did remove the crowel and put the mini cabin filters on so I expect a little more sound from under the hood., however I'm starting to wonder if this is normal, mostly because I drove my friends 335 with similar upgrades and only hear the sucking sound or turbos when I really get on it as opposed to mine where I can hear it getting on it with slightly aggressive acceleration, (he had stock air intake).

So my quest is do you think this is strictly the dual cone intake making the sounds or something else? Thought I'd ask before removing the cones and putting back stock air intake as a test...thx

It's the DCI. They are one of the worst mods ever.

Ya that's normal for DCI combined with cowl filters.

+1. I actually like being able to hear the air wooshing and turbos spooling in my twin turbo vehicle. If I didn't like it, i would not have gotten a turbocharged car, would have stayed NA. I'll bet it sounds great with the cowl off. The only time I get to enjoy that experience is when I'm test driving after a repair. I don't like leaving the cowl off permanently for aesthetics and fear of drowning.

I like how it sounds, just kinda hard on the highway with people in it, but thanks all.

I remove the cowl and run BMS cabin filter in the summer.
Car stays in the garage if it ever rains.

I run it same setup through harsh rainstorms and even with a vented cf hood over downpipe area no issues.

Ive been running mine without the cowl for over a year now through a Colorado above average rainy summer, tons of snow, and now an above average rainy spring with no issue. Had 20+ inches sitting on my hood at one point and didnt have any issues with water where it shouldnt be. Only thing is it makes the AC work harder since its sucking air directly from the hot engine bay.

OP, welcome to turbo'd cars. With the cowl off, you are eliminating one of the biggest sound restrictions above your turbos and inlets. Even with the stock intake box, youd get turbo sounds. Thats how you know you are having fun.
