M sport suspension stiffness and ground clearance
For all of you that have this option or the entire M kit could you please let me know what ground clearance you have here:
http://img177.imageshack.us/img177/8947/96711009zk1.png is this M sport suspension harsh and rough? i'm still thinking if i should get it for my e90 335d (i still can modify the options until July); the thing is that although i just test drove a 2005 330i with this kind of suspension (code 704 in Europe) and it didn't seem that stiff, i still don't know if i should get it or not; i want a small drop on the stock suspension but i don't want it to be to stiff and difficult to drive because of the lower setup.... any thoughts from current owners will be greatly appreciated |

Float a similar request in the regional Euro forums -- there are very few M-sport suspension cars in USA/CDN.

I had it installed on top of the US spec sport package. The retrofit consisted of new shocks, new bump stops, sway bar bushings, etc...All of these much stiffer than the stock ZSP ones. Concerning height...my car's ride height did not change so I would say the M suspension should be approx the same height as the ZSP height. Ride is stiffer but not by much. The handling is much improved with sharper turn in and less float/sway while cornering. Definitely an improvement.

There is a difference between the Sports Suspension package and M Sports Suspension (different part no's). Based on our observation of a side by side comparison in one of our E90 gatherings:
1) Sports suspension is softer and more compliant compared to M Sports Suspension 2) Sports suspension has lower ground clearance in the front (about 1/2-1 finger tyre to fender gap difference) but similar height at the rear with the M sports suspension. 3) M sport suspension is pretty hard on the rear. Over road dips the car rebounds much more noticably at the rear (your rear passengers will notice it ). Stance of the car is quite different with the Sports susp vs. M Sport susp, as the nose dips more with the Sports Susp.
