Anyone know when Bavarian Soundwerks will be releasing their BSW Stage 1 Speakers?
I have been drooling with anticpation for the release of their speaker upgrade package. It is supposed to me a significant and dramatic improvement. I am a music nut and cannot wait.
http://www.bavariansoundwerks.com/pr...Series-M3-E93/ I am looking for any feedback on release time frame, installation difficulty, or past experience with this upgrade for a different series. Thanks in advance!

I'm not holding my breath anymore...I emailed them a year ago and they were shooting for summer...2007. I am also a music nut (have been a staff musician), and I believe the last time my car was in for service they got a little carried away with the stereo because my low-mids seem to be nonexistent anymore...
They were expecting b/t 450-600 for price too, and that has changed. I'm also curious to see how much of a chore it turns out to be to change the speakers... |

I am pretty handy and have done many car stereo installations (years ago). I just hope the whole door does not have to come apart.
A also emailed them when I purchased the car (Oct 07) and they said shortly. I hope there are no problems with the design. Oh well!

They seem really vague about which stereo system they are describing:
"One of the first things most BMW owners notice about their vehicles is the poor performance of the BMW audio system. There is no clear definition at any volume level. The high frequency range is muffled and distant and midrange is harsh. " While they certainly had a point with old E46 audio system, I don't agree with this at all in describing the Logic 7. I'm also skeptical about subbing out speakers in a system that was designed and electronically equalized for a given driver. There's no way you can match the "transfer function" of the original drivers while providing increased efficiency as they claim. Loudspeakers are all about trade-offs, and changing one parameter will certainly change another. I have no doubt the "upgrade" will sound different. I'm just not sure it will necessarily be better. If you have the Logic 7 system, have you experimented with all the Eq settings available to you? |

My Convertible did not come with a Logic 7 option. I did get a premium stereo. The sound is very good. However, the highs could be much more crisp and the low bass is both not tight and lacking. I would probably take the chance and try them. My real fear is the level of difficulty of the install. I guess time will tell.

With iDrive it's under entertainment settings. With the headunit, I don't know, check the owner's manual. But if you bought your 335 in the US, it has Logic7

OK, I am embarassed. The manual says I have logic 7 and I found the EQ in the setup menu. I still think there is room for improvement in the sound. However, you did make me nervous about the "compatibility". I will have to play with all the settings and see if I can improve the sound. Thanks for the heads up!!

Either way, we're currently in the process of securing a sponsorship with BimmerPost, and when we do that I'll post links to the install/finished product etc.. I can tell you it looks fantastic in the car.

Update:
We have the first full production version Stage 1 along with our new e90/91/92 subwoofer system installed and functioning beautifully in a non-Logic7 e91 as of this morning. The finished product looks unbelievable and sounds absolutely phenomenal! Pictures and installation files/videos will be up as soon as we're official sponsors, which is currently pending.

The Stage 1 Speaker Upgrade and Subwoofer System will be available separately, or together as a package deal as always.

-The Stage 1 replaces all the speakers in the car with the exception of the underseat woofers. -The system is designed to work perfectly with the stock amp, but we will also be offering an upgraded amp that will pair with the Stage 1 to make the "Stage 2 Audio Upgrade"

Will you see a good improvement over logic7 or is this more for those with standard audio? |
