Error code 485c
Hi All,
Last Friday my car had to be towed to a garage as the orange 'engine overheating' light showed on the dash, shortly followed by the red one as well. This was while I was halfway to work, the fan had also been going full blast for the whole journey even though the engine was cold. The garage diagnosed it as a faulty water temperature sensor, that was duly replaced and the car seemed fine. However in general, maybe for the last few weeks or so it has felt a little sluggish, so I fired up INPA with the engine running and read the codes. The codes were: DME 3ee0 21 485c 61 The 3ee0 code relates to the water temp sensor - Coolant Temp Sensor, short circuit to B+ or open. So that explains the fault I had last week. However after clearing the codes, code 485c keeps coming back. I'd not seen this code before and it seems to relate to EGR valve. One description I found stated "EGR cooling switching valve - open circuit" Does anyone have any experience of this code? I'm guessing it's an electrical fault with something. EGR valve? Pressure converter? Something else? I'm not sure where to start checking. I have the 2.0 diesel N47 engine. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

I got dis loaded up but while checking the engine bay I discovered the electrical plug was loose to the bit that supplies the vacuum to the egr bypass valve. Plugged it in properly and the error went away, happy days!

I googled the error code to find out what it meant. Later confirmed by DIS.
