I swear. all these idle and shift issues have one thing in common. aa tune. I'm debating yanking mine actually and going with another actual proper dyno tune.

One of your vanos solenoids? My exhaust solenoid is bad. Tried cleaning it and no dice. My idle would jump when cruising to a stop. And I have pretty impressive fuel efficiency numbers at a Hummer like 9.5 Mpg.

The issue might not show up on your dashboard. It could be a stored code. I drove for weeks with reduced/weird performance before a check engine came up. After I tried cleaning it a code still shows up as a stored code but nothing shows up on the dashboard.

It's nothing to do with exhaust itself. Look up "vanos solenoid e90". You can do it from the top of the car in front of the engine. And you don't have to even take out your intake.

Just did it a few hours ago and the car idles perfectly, acelerates a lot smoother and is noticeably faster.
The new ones take quite a bit of strength to put in because of the new rubber o rings.

I have been working with Nic for a bit now. I still have issues and such. Considering BPC or local indy tune myself.

Sounds to me like you have a bad coil.

Did you pull the codes? If so, what are they?

What W37V said ^^^

Is the "rough idle" really really rough? Like engine vibrating rough? If so, you might have a similar problem to what I did. (My car is a manual transmission, 2011 e90 328i.)
Also, does it happen in other gears besides 2nd? Under any "hard" acceleration like the symptom below?

My car was around 88-90,000 miles when one of the coils went bad.

What would happen is even under the slightest "too quick" acceleration, the car would start missfiring and the SES light would come on. I literally couldn't drive like that so I would pull over and re-start the car (somtimes a couple of times) until it started without the rough idle (missfiring).

I eventually had my mechanic install 6 new spark plugs and 6 new coils. The car was fine after that. Until I got it repaired though, I had to be like a grandma no the throttle. Even if I accelerated slightly too fast the car would missfire. It was the most annoying thing ever.

I don't have a tune on my car. Same exact exhaust setup as you though.

not really rough but the exhaust tone is completely off sounds weird it rarely happens though it only happens when i WOT from 2nd and it auto downshifts to 1st gear thats when it happens if it dosent auto down shift it dosent get the SES or rough idle no windows laptops in my house so i cant use my simon to its advantage

I am confused. So your issue is solely based on the sound change? The sound of your car does not sound the same after the engine redlines? I still believe it's a coil. However, check your eccentric sensor - see if it is oily.

Have you considered getting Carly for BMW (aka Bmwhat) app? You need an app and the dongle. They have for android and iPhone. The app also allows for some coding.

Pull the codes and see what is up. App is able to pull shadow codes as well. Our cars are smart enough to actually tell you what is wrong. Before you start assuming things, get all the facts you can.
