DPF Differential Pressure Sensor - Consensus

For those that are running deletes. Can you please post what you have done with your DPF Differential Pressure Sensor? Is is connected to the harness?

Mine is connected.

Is that the fat tube that plugs into the DPF, with a control unit on the fuel filter? Long gone.

Oh man, that sensor is very useful. A couple examples of using the differential pressure sensor for some interesting things:

1.) Measuring exhaust pressure, and also quantifying the plugging of the SCR: http://www.e90post.com/forums/showpo...7&postcount=60

2.) Constructing a vacuum based MAF that can read airflow beyond the OEM's MAF capability: http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?p=19151674

It's a very useful sensor, and it's easy to log.

I think you are thinking of a DEF metering valve.

DPF differential pressure sensor is here as #3:

Thanks TDI and thanks guys. Keep the replies coming.
I have noticed and slight sensor drift in values and was wondering what would happen if it is disconnected. Nothing did as far as engine check lights. Need to check the parameters. I have a JR tune.

Sensor is connected electrically. Black tubes are still connected too. Opposite end of tubes just hanging there as Ecotune pipes have been cut off and welded over. JR Auto Stage 2 tune (circa Jan 2015). I'm told this tune is same as what is now called "Stage 2 Race".

I do confirm now that monitored values for the DPF differential pressure sensor have changed to negative and are stable, after the electrical disconnect.

Do have the 3EED code, but that is unrelated I believe.

Not sure. I had BPC do the all the work for me, not sure what they do with the diff pressure sensor.

Backpressure Pipe

Hey Guys,
As you all probably know, Im still having issues with my car. We thought we had it tracked down to the turbo change over flap that gets actuated to change exhaust gases from the small to big turbo. However, that problem just up and disappeared.....Im baffled by that one...

Anyway, while it was in the shop, supposedly to get that part changed out (via an all new turbo ) They found something else.....

In the picture posted above, the backpressure pipe (Number 9) has a huge hole in it......and when I feel the exhaust pressure sensor, it feels like the nipple is broken off, but I cant tell for sure.... They have ordered both parts and am now waiting on them...

So I have 2 questions...1....has anyone had this problem that we know of? 2. What was the behavior characteristics of the car when this is disconnected/torn/blown out?

My unmodified car blew this tube(9) out the second day I had it after a long drive home.

I heard it almost like a boost leak, and could smell traditional diesel exhaust when sitting at a light and even after a 20min drive, both in the cabin.

Never had a code and car still ran fine, but it was only in this condition for 30-40mi.

I pulled the engine cover when I got home and saw the rupture, and replaced that hose with some silicone tube and 2 clamps, hasn't been an issue since. The real part I think is listed around 13$, but I had tubing and clamps handy.

I can't see how to add pics, but pm me your email and I'll send if you want to see.

Well, I'm not sure exactly how that sensor is used once you've remapped the DDE and deleted things in the exhaust. However, having a pressure leak like that off the exhaust manifold, before the turbine's, is like having a wastegate open all the time. I would expect this to impact spool up/lag and boost behavior, which would definitely impact torque response and power delivery.

I'm not sure either, but would assume it would have an impact on how the turbine switchover operates and also on the wastegate operation. Would be great if one of the tuners would let us know how the values are used throughout the maps.
