Thumbs up Lexus LC500 is Coming... Promo Video w/ Exhaust Note (WOW!)

Man... I remember owning my first Lexus and how fantastic that car was at the time: 98' GS400. It was a "game changer". I can honestly say that this particular vehicle here is VERY intriguing and looks to change the game again...

Quote:
The 2018 Lexus LC 500 is about to head into production, and to build the anticipation, Lexus released a new ad highlighting key features and showing off the sound coming from the 5.0-liter V-8 engine. The winding, mountain roads only help to sell what the new LC 500 has to offer.

We see on startup that the driver is greeted by an LC welcome shown on the instrument panel before the gauges are displayed, and with a quick rev, we can hear the throaty V-8. The viewer is taken on a tour through the mountains, and as the day becomes night in the video, more elements of the car are revealed.

Through the magic of CG, the rocky mountain surfaces behind the LC 500 transform to show a gallery of furiously pumping pistons. The hillside then changes to display a sound wave graphic and a set of intermeshing gears. As the luxury coupe cuts through the turns, we get a view of the active rear spoiler and its striking headlights, and hear more of that delicious engine that delivers 468 hp and 391 lb-ft of torque.

Check out the video below to get a taste of the all-new 2018 Lexus LC 500 before it goes on sale early next year with an estimated starting price of $90,000.

Is this for the SL crowd? Almost as painfully awkward as the pre LCI R231.

Lexus and that awful "floating" c pillar really need to part ways too. Same goes for the Altezza tails, and GM's polished wheels. Pretty much no, full stop.

actually a cool ad.

I hope this car does well, its certainly unique looking and I'll look forward to seeing them around. Sounds very good. If they make a vert it would be tempting as a cruiser. I wouldn't buy the coupe but I do actually like it.

I had a '98 GS300 I drove for 10 years and always wished I sprung for the 400 and Nakamichi audio. I loved that car, especially when it was new and had that unique styling for the day. Then, unfortunately, I traded it in for a '08 LS, which was a dog and got me to drop Lexus entirely to try out the Germans.

I'm not a fan of the Lexus styling nowadays, particularly the LC.

For $90k that better be the most comfortable thing on 4 wheels. Certainly aren't paying for power or good looks IMO

Yes indeed! Owned mine for 4yrs and it was ROCK solid. Never had 1 issue with it. When I sold it, the customer literally flew in from Colorado to pay cash and drive it back. He told me after driving his neighbors for a weekend he had to have one and wanted my particular color combo and low miles.
I feel though that Lexus had lost the "panache" they once had.
But this particular car is damn Sexy!

Looks absolutely gorgeous. It's more of a 6 series competitor considering that the LC500 costs almost exactly as much as a 650i, unlike the S500 coupe and SL500 which cost about $30k more.

I'm genuinely interested in this and might consider it as a replacement for my 6er. Also can't wait to see what the LCF looks like. Bravo Lexus!

Agreed. But I also think it is "targeting" SL buyers too.

Same old recycled V8 lacking in torque compared to competitors. When are we getting a new V8TT from Toyota? Is their engine development team in hibernation?

I still have my 2001 GS430, complete with mods, and it has 305,000 miles and still going strong (**finding wood to knock on**). I love it, and still take it on 1500+ mile trips. So durable, and so solid. It's my daily driver, though I have another Lexus for when it rains (I hate cleaning cars, and I'm OCD for sure). LOL ...I guess you could call the GS my "sunny day" DD.

My M4 is more of a weekend/trip/when-I'm-in-the-mood car.

As for the new Lexuses, can't get past the grille (and that's a big "if"). But when or if I leave the M series, I'll likely go back to Lexus....and get a GSF or something.

This LC is intriguing, but it's still too much grille for me.

Lexus will eventually have to tone down this grille in future generations, I'm waiting for that to happen.

But until then, I will drive my 2001 GS until it drops.

Congrats! Man that brings back memories! And WOW, over 300,000 miles and STILL rolling??? Now THAT is serious "bragging rights"!

Since we're getting all "nostalgic", here's my significantly modded one...

Complete with Motorola Timeport (flip-phone) mount!

Definitely at the time one of THE cleanest in all of DFW!

Haha, TX, were you on ClubLexus? I still am, since I still own 2.

Nice ride!

And, you'll get a kick out of this, I STILL have my old hardwired flip phone in my car from Verizon, and still use it. It still works flawlessly, so it's my "car phone" for the GS, with its own separate number. Verizon now just tosses it in for free with my current plan (obviously they love me, a loyal customer LOL). It's been in there since like 2007 or 2008. Amazing that the phone has lasted that long. hahahaha

So yes, I'm old school and new school. Still love my Lexus V8 too.

haha, that's great, I joined CL back in 2003. Been on there ever since.

And I use the same screen name on there, obviously.

If I keep the M long enough, maybe I'll be KevinM4 one day, but not yet. Since I have 650,000+ Lexus miles between two current vehicles, I'm still KevinGS for now... LOL

Hec, I just drove my GS around today, and made calls on my flip phone......and the separate speaker is still crystal clear and loud, and the mic picks up so well (mounted in the headliner) that people think I'm in sitting at my desk. Gotta love Lexus (and Verizon). Old technology and an old V8 still going strong....

I owned second gen gs300 with 2JZGE motor and loved that car. Then I got a third get and loved it. NOW I have the last gen with F package and wish I had put my money elsewhere.

As far as this new model coming out, I really don't have high hopes for it and at that price point there are many possibly better options. My 2 cents
