Widest Wheels I Can Fit?
Hey Guys,
I have a 2009 E90 LCI 335i no X-Drive. Wanna get new tires and would like some more meat in the back. Stock front is 225/40/ R18 and stock rear is 255/35/ R18. Wondering what are the widest tired I can fit without rub. Currently On style 189s. Thanks!! |

It shouldn't. You're only talking about 10mm width. You're increasing your contact patch so it should handle a smidgen better. You're also not going so wide that you would drastically increase your chances of hydroplaning. If you're talking about going a size up in profile height, that will effect some stuff. If you're doing aggressive driving/cornering you increase the chances of sidewall flex for sure. The speedometer should read accurately though as ours are off by about 3 miles due to the low profile tires. I'd be more concerned about rubbing than anything else as your tires will be much closer to your fenders during bumps and full lock turns. I ran a profile size higher on my 166s and they rubbed like crazy in the rears... ![]() This was stock ride height. If you do decide to go up in profile do it with a lower offset wheel. Having aggressive fitment PLUS oversized wheels could cause some issues. |

I believe the ET both front and rear are 34 and 37. If correct and being pre-lci E90 you can run 235/35 easily and maybe even 285/30. You have more room than my E92.

He is asking about his stock wheels. A 285/35 wheel will not fit on a 8.5" wide wheel.

Wheels with tires can be cheaper than tires
As to testing setups youre unsure about, find a used tire shop with a fireign last name or city and tires as its name....never spend 1000s experimenting |

I went +10mm width front and rear with 12mm spacers on all 4 wheels. (2011 e90 RWD) Lowered on coilovers with -2.0 / -2.5 f/r camber. Tight fit but I'm happy with how it looks, relatively subtle but aggressive if you know what you're looking at.
