M3 CIC controller knob in E92 335xi

Hi all, I need to replace my iDrive knob. I've sourced one from an M3. It looks EXACTLY the same. The part numbers on realOEM don't match up though.

Does anyone know why this wouldn't work? Of if it would?

Dead controller #: 6589231118

M3 controller that I need to fit: 6589205177

I see no reason why it wouldn't fit and work but I'd like to know from someone that has definitive info before I spend money on the M3 controller.

Should work just fine. Probably some minor difference in the silver paint color or material in the "grip" part of the knob.

That's correct. M3's have a sort of silver/matte chrome finish, the other e9x series (non M3) have a more chrome look finish.
