Is this MANN filter genuine or fake?

It is my first oil change so I don't have a comparison. Compared to online photos the color seems much darker and the logo is closer to the center edge. There is also a seam on the side. These photos were taken without flash. I bought this filter on eBay. What do you think?

Not if it's aftermarket MANN filter. OEM yes it will have bmw part number.

Looks fine. Put it in the car and drive for 2000km, pop it open and check if it is still intact. If its falling apart it's fake.

Thanks guys. Yes, it's aftermarket. I was surprised with the dark orange color but the OEM photo that Abax posted has exactly same color, so it looks ok. It was only $8.95 on eBay with free shipping. I wonder how sellers make a profit on these considering shipping cost and eBay fees. They must be really cheap in wholesale.

It should not have a BMW marking if you bought it as MANN, in a yellow and green box.

It looks similar to mine, I'd say it is a real one, from the picture. It should have come with a washer.

I got mine in a pack from ECS or bavauto for almost the same price per unit, and knew these were legit. The few cents are worth the piece of mind.

My Mann oil filter from amazon came with a rubber washer and oil filter cap washer.

Looks legit.

Should also come with a crush washer for the oil drain plug, and a small green o-ring and a large black o-ring for the oil filter cap.
