Nexus 7 Set-Up Issues - Help Please!
So I have my Nexus 7 installed in my E92, it is running Timur's Kernel, and everything is looking great, except.... There is some issue with the wiring and I cannot figure it out. The audio is supposed to be running through the USB so that you can only run one cord from the tablet, which gives it a cleaner look. So what you need is an OTG cable with power so that it can both charge the tablet and transmit audio data.
Right now I have the Nexus 7 connected through a standard USB cable. That cable then connects to an OTG with power cable. The OTG cable will then Y into two cables (one Male Micro USB, and the other is a Male USB). From here, I have the micro USB running to the power (through an adapter cable), and the Male USB is running into the DAC to transfer what should be audio data. After the DAC, I have an Auxiliary cord connecting the DAC to the car's AUX input. The tablet will charge with this set-up, but the audio will not go through the DAC (the power light on the DAC will not light-up with this configuration either). Am I missing something obvious? How come I am getting no audio through my car? It's as if the tablet does not recognize to play audio through the USB and it simply plays through the tablets internal speakers. I have tried rebooting with the DAC plugged in so that it Boots knowing there is a DAC connected, but still no luck! If someone could help me figure this out, I would appreciate it more than you know! Cheers!

The cable that connects directly to the Nexus 7s microusb slot needs to be OTG capable. Your problem is that you're connecting a standard USB cable to the Nexus 7, so you already lose that functionality by the time you get to your OTG cable.

That's the one I picked up - haven't installed it yet. The listing does not specifically say Nexus 7 2013 but the following review confirms it does work with it. https://amazon.com/review/R1XXYLE5YT...dp_lswr_rp_hza

Or if you can modify your current adapter cable by bridging pins 4 and 5 on the micro usb connector end to make it OTG compatible. Otherwise, you want something like this: http://www.banggood.com/Micro-USB-90...-p-926167.html Also, if you're planning on using extension cables, try to use the shortest cables possible and preferably high quality ones with 28/24 AWG wires. Otherwise, you're going to find that your tablet will not be able to charge quickly enough especially if you have the display on full brightness and a lot of cpu heavy apps running. |

Also, are all OTG Cables with Power the same? Does each wire have a specific purpose? Or can you connect then in any way as long as they are all connected.. Tough questions to explain, but is there a certain and/or proper way to connect the cables to the OTG with Power adapter?

Alright, so good news! Thanks for the input everyone! Turns out I just had some incompatible cables as part of my set-up! Got some new ones ordered and I'll be up and running this week!
