You have shot across many realms with all of these qustions. There is what we diesel heads call the main section for E90. I will send you there to look up tires and brakes. FWIW, I personally run Michelin Pilot Super Sports. We refer to these as PSS. They are pricey but give a decent ride and grip really well.
There is a thread called Exhaust Teaser that I send you to for exhaust system that has been I the works for about a year. There are other exhausts out there made in different parts of the country. You only have one post so you have lots of reading to do I'm guessing. If we just tell you everything to do, you won't necessarily understand why. There are 2 main tuners we have used predominantly: JR Auto and BPC. There are 2 threads (if not more) that the companies have directly promoted their products. I run JR Auto's Stage 2 Race and have really liked it. Downpipes: I recommend you contact bohldiesel.com. He is a very good guy and he was on here for a while. We sometimes call him the banned one in case you read that term to know he is same person. There are other sources for pipes but I'm pointing you to who I recommend. There is a really good salvage yard here in Houston called Lonestar that has a lot of European cars. You should be able to find a trunk lid for an E90 there easily. They are only open M-F. You didn't ask this but I have to put a plug in for Andrew at AARodriguez Corp (www.fixmyvw.com). Andrew offers services and products to the greater TDI community including our 335D and X5D running the M57 engine. Not sure if he is into the N57 diesel yet though. 1st reading should be a thread called "removing the alphabet soup" or something like that. Go try to learn how to use the search feature but make sure it is only looking in this sub thread. You are going to come across terms like EGR block and catch can and DPF delete. There is a couple weeks of reading to get you a little more fluent in what we talk about. This isn't an emergency but you may want to check into changing your transmission pan and fluid. There are a few threads on this topic as well. BMW has changed their tune on this. Originally, they said never change the fluid and we scoffed at this notion. Eventually, they flipped over to saying every 100,000 miles. The manufacturer of the transmission (ZF) says more like 60,000 miles. People here are doing it at 50,60, and sometimes 70 thousand miles. Others way longer. A company called thectsc.com sells the kit for a decent price for the plastic pan, a 6L of fluid. Make sure to get proper type of fluid for a hp26 transmission. I've read of some wanting to go use a non ZF fluid like pentoson, or even redline. I felt that there was little to be gained and perhaps lots to take a chance on so I stayed with the proper fluid. They also sell other components including a mechatronics sleeve if it starts leaking on you. Once again, you've got to read why or why not the sleeve needs to be changed. I wished I could sprinkle links in for all of these things. We have a the beginning of a DIY thread that Andrew @fixmyvw is hosting. It doesn't have a sticky so it shifts down in the thread listing until one of us bumps it back to the top. Somebody else offer this guy words of wisdom, I'm out of gas here. Good luck and welcome to our sub forum. Last edited by BB_cuda; 07-10-2016 at 06:18 PM.. |

Wow, has to be a record for someone's first post.
I would not suggest modding your car if you don't have enough time to do basic research. It will be more trouble than you have time for. Welcome to the forum - I suggest viewing the many easily-found DIY threads, and searching for many of the terms you listed in your post. That's what I did when I started here, and found 95% of what I was looking for, and I'm a fairly busy fellow myself. 5 to 10 minutes is all you will need to search for every single item in your post. Best of luck!
