Installed JB4 + ER Charge pipe - No boost?
Hey Guys, Just installed a second hand JB4 and ER charge pipe.
Install went fine, no check engine lights, car started right up. However, I am barely making but just a couple lbs of boost on Map 0-2 and the car is noticeably slower. The in dash wheel controls work as intended and Iam pretty confident in the install. My guess is a boost leak with the new charge pipe, what do you guys think? Unfortunately I don't have the usb data cable. I do have the android app Torque Pro and an OBII bluetooth adapter if theres anything I can do with that? I think I may try to install the stock charge pipe back on to at least narrow it down to one root cause (JB or CP). Any input is welcomed, I am a total noobie to turbos and JB4 \ EDIT: Put stock CP back in and issue is the same.

Need more info. Do you have any other mods? Is jb4 ISO? Are you sure you are setting map correctly with steering wheel controls? You really need a way to change settings on JB4 so highly recommend getting the USB or BT kit. For now, I would definitely contact the person you purchased from and see if they know what current settings are.
Also, take some picture of CP connections on throttle body and IC side so we can see if you installed correctly. |

I had a similar issue after I installed my JB4. It turned out to be a recessed pin on the connection to the boost solenoid. One of the pins was pushed back into the connector and wasn't making a solid connection. I pulled the pin flush with the others and the problem was fixed.

Check the cable pins as advised above.
Also have you flashed the ISO firmware Have you got any of the cables mixed up, or not plugged in enough.

Could also be a boost leak since you installed a CP. Did you transfer the o-ring from the stock pipe over to the ER? They don't come with one.

The previous owner told me it was flashed with ISO. I checked the connections they seem secure, but I will check to make sure the pins are not damaged/recessed.

Do you know if the o-ring was on though? They like to fall off once removed. Just something else that is an easy check. It could very well be something JB4 related too. You should be able to just plug the stock boost connector back in and see if that fixes it to rule out the JB4.

Was the O ring installed on the CP's?
You need to re-use the stock O ring with the ER CP. With 0 boost it sounds like the JB4 install. It's very rare for the JB4's to fail altogether but anything is possible second hand. Did you ask why they were selling it? After you triple check the install on the JB4, make sure the orientation of plugs are correct, the smallest details matter on the plugs as well as the pins. There are little arrows on the plugs that must be correct as the plugs can be installed backwards. Lastly, you may want to update firmware and software on the JB4 and go back to default settings. If you don't have the proper device to hook it up, ask a neighbor/friend or local in regional section. |

I did re-use the o-ring. I will triple check everything after work today. Is it true that I can just plug the OEM boost solenoid connector back in, while leaving the other JB plugs in to check? Would that at least make stock boost? My buddy has an N54 with a JB$, can I use the same device he uses to do that? Thanks again!

Yes, you will just make stock boost. All the JB4 does is change the signal going out to make it higher boost.
