Question PIAA LED License Plate Lamp Bulbs $89.95

At $89.95, these are way more expensive than $29.95 for JLevi product. Anyone have experience with these PIAA LED License Plate Lamp Bulbs? The JLevi bulbs say, "This product may cause errors on E90" (which is what I drive). I'm trying to decide which to go for. I'm running PIAA angels & fogs and have been very happy with them. TIA!

I have the ones from Jlevi and have no error codes.

My car is an e90 and was built in April 2007.

Why pay and extra $60 for the PIAA ones?

I have a Jan 07 build E92 328. The jlevi bulbs gave me an error. I would like to find something that does not give that error...

Got error on jlevi's v2 bulb.... supposedly the PIAA has a resistor so it won't give you an error.

I thought about it but I couldn't see spending $180 on 2 194 bulbs haha.

Although the LED license plate lights I have right now give me errors.

Okay. okay, since I love all things LED, and have had excellent service from Mod Bargains, I've contacted them to get a set, I'll let you know when they're installed (with pics of course)

I had the Jlevi one and it threw a code. Someone proposed a theory...when you unlock your car, if your license plate light blinks, then it won't give you a code.

My license plate light doesn't blink when I unlock/lock my car and it throws a code the second you start the car with these LEDs installed.

Two things about these bulbs in the link
1. they are crap with very minimal light output --> You need the Bellof Sirius Revo for the interior map / reading lights
2. they don't fit the plate light housing, you need 42mm festoon bulbs.

They look ok as side marker on the fenders though.

Matt,

Is your license plate LED not working? I never had a bulb out signal when I had them on my car.

its so weird, i get an error 80% of the time, 20% no error. I'm puzzled. Maybe it's the gas? it SEEMS like everytime I use shell gas, no bulb error, but chevron, 76, or 7-11 I get it. I know this cant really be why, but it's been true on like 7 fill-ups.

p.s. Jan/07 build

I'm guessing it's some software / coding related issues. Mine's a March build.

Anyways, don't even try these PIAAs.

Man I got the similar issue with the HIDs. Mine is roughly 60% with errors and 40% without errors ever showing up. Errors tend not show up on a cold night, maybe 50 degrees or below. And when I go out at night and stop by places, my HIDs are not likely to show error once the bulbs are used and still hot. I wonder if it might have similar issues as these license plate HIDs.

Please post pics!

I might just order them too. I've never had a problem with PIAAs. Yes, PIAAs are expensive, but the quality is high, the company has been around a long time and they've got a good reputation.
