Oil Condition Sensor

Hey guys, this might seem quite odd but.. do we have an oil condition sensor in our cars (e92 335d), considering we have got the dipstick as well?

I keep getting failure codes about a lack of connection to the oil condition sensor in INPA and Rheingold. However, I tried to search for it in RealOEM, however I cannot find anything that would be labled as a 'condition sensor'. The only sensor related to oil I found is this one under position number 16. Is this it?

I'll take a WAG and say no. Alot of contemporary vehicles have been using a calculated oil change interval, based on a combination of things like mileage, average speed, temp variations and so forth. I believe our 335D OCI is a set parameter like 10k miles or something like that.

Who is "we?" OP has a 335D, euro looks like (Cracow - Poland?) and everywhere that part# shows on the Internet lists it as an "oil level sensor." My car doesn't calculate oil level condition anywhere I can find, and those dash displays don't appear on mine either. But U.S. and euro do get different things when called for. My OCI has always been set at 12k miles, and the dealer declined to lower it to 10 when I asked.

I bet the "condition sensor" is a gasser thing and the OP is going to find all he has is a level sensor.

Did mine with Carly and it was set at 7k. Not sure if it's adjustable though.

I think our cars (usa e90 335d) only have the low oil switch, not a level or condition sensor

"we" as in Euro and US cars both share the same part number. For now we all have our "WAGs" until someone has a definitive proof from the BMW technical literature.

Assuming that RealOEM calls something an oil level sensor is the same assumption as referencing Rheingold where it is an oil condition sensor. Which one is right. And the gasser thing does not hold any argument here, they list it as a level sensor too. May be Hella will help?

Finally, the E64 that is referenced in the technical article previously linked also has oil level sensor all over the place. Except the article. May be what we have here is the primary function is an oil level sensor as far as the user is concerned, but with added functions for the onboard systems. Condition is never displayed, but used an input to oil change interval. Examples such as these are common throughout BMW onboard systems. There is no brake temp sensor yet input from other systems is used to calculate change intervals.
