How to unplug paddle shifters?

I bought a used M3 steering wheel and it came with DCT paddles and M3 buttons. I need to replace the M3 buttons with my OEM buttons, but the paddle shifters plug into the buttons, so I need to unplug the shifters first.

How the heck do you unplug the shifters from the buttons?!? There doesn't seem to be any locking tab to pry on, so do I get them out?

Thanks!

I used needle nose plyers to help pull them out. Mine were in there pretty tight but they did come out.

Thanks! Yeah looks like there isn't a locking tab to push on. I just pulled on them really hard and they came out.
