Service records show injector recall, but still on Index 01
Car: 2007 335i, stock except for intake
I've been having some stumbling on cold starts and an occasional misfire at full boost. One of the injectors even has an audible tick, so I've suspected this is the culprit. I called up a couple different dealers to pull service records and found that the HPFP and injector recall were performed during the recall campaign back in 2011, the injectors specifically under SI B13.14.10. However, all six -01 injectors are still installed in the engine. My understanding was that all injectors -07 and under should have been replaced. Would a dealer not replace injectors during that campaign for some reason? Another possibility is that the engine has been replaced since then. Is the VIN marked anywhere on the engine that I can compare against the chassis? Any advice is welcome. Last edited by RJ_; 07-19-2016 at 08:59 AM.. |

From what I know, if your car was tested fine under the recall they did not replace anything. Simply marked a check that it was tested and good and moved on.
My vehicle is a 07 with index 1 injectors that had the recall done back in 2011 as well and when I purchased it 2yrs ago it still had index 1 |

Now that I look closer at the SIB I see that it's possible for that to happen. The only "test" that they do is scan the barcode on -01 through -07. If the serial number isn't part of the "bad batch", they don't replace it. Kinda unlucky for you and I. Guess I'll add that to the maintenance list. |

Nice, that's a really good deal. Where'd you come across that? Seems like every place is either sold out or selling for $200 a piece, unless you go with rebuilt ones on eBay.
