Oil Leak after downpipe install
So I installed my VRSF downpipe about 6 weeks ago. At the time, there wasn't any presence of oil anywhere under the vehicle. After any parts install I usually leave the under belly removed to check back a few days later. I began to notice a small dot of oil in my parking spot. Lifted the car up and a leak was present between the transmission and back of the block.
What I did forget to do was reinstall one of the bolts that is used for the OEM downpipe bracket. This bolt goes thru the transmission bellhousing into what I'm assuming is either the oil pan or short block. Anyone experience this? I'm worried it's a rear main seal leak. The leak is similar to this thread. The location is more towards the rubber gasket door thing.. ( Looks to be an access hole for torque converter??) http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1150196

I was leaning towards oil pan gasket. Just got a call from the dealer saying it's the valve cover gasket.
I'll keep an eye on it. If it continues I'll drive it right back over. |

downpipe had nothing to do with this.
I actually had a leak show up after a down pipe install. It turned out to be the oil filter housing gasket and the oil cooler gasket. |

Just spoke to the service adviser; turns out it was the oil pan gasket. This is a big sigh of relief since it's common as these cars rack up the miles. I'm at 70K and so far the repairs are:
HPFP Water Pump Coolant Expansion Tank Radiator Oil Pan Gasket Warranty is about to run out so I'm glad some of the common issues are taken car of. Anything I should look forward to on the N55??
