motor mount bracket
quick questions
-how many bolts secure the passenger motor mount bracket to the engine block? -do I need to remove the motor mount also to remove the dpf? -do the O2 sensors need to come off before removal? |

I did remove the mount as well. More room is better pulling the DPF. There is a bolt holding the mount against the body from inside the fender well side. I didn't remove the sensors until it was out |

Not saying other guy is wrong here. I preferred to take loose all sensors from DPF body. I didn't want a spaghetti of wires moving with DPF when it came out. Otherwise the opposite end of harnesses that are part of sensors has to be disconnected. I'm not real good at not damaging the connectors so I minimize messing with them. The only issue this brings about is when replacing the front EGT. You have to "back spin" it to where you don't get a bunch of twists in cable after spinning it to tighten. Don't get the EGT mixed up when replacing. I have done the other mount both ways. Last time, I only removed top nut to disconnect bracket from mount. This was when I was pulling aftermarket down pipe though so I didn't need as much room. Pull the mount if you want. Good luck.

I pulled the sensors I needed to keep for the downpipe and left the rest in there and it dropped no problem.
Mount definitely needs to be spun out of the way. I didnt pull it all the way out but I did spin it away. The through the mount bolt was easy for me from above, a small extension on a 3/8 ratchet got it not problem, at least until I got the mount back on and my buddy put a second bolt in that hole. It proved to be extremely difficult to tighten one bolt onto the head of the other ![]() |

unplug other side. I went a different route. I got an M20 bolt from store. I think it was an M20X1.5 but I need to double check the pitch so don't quote me (yet). I removed the NOx sensor and all of the orange cable connected to it all the way through the box on the other end. I then plugged the hole with stated bolt above. I wrote in another thread so I will go look for it. There is a section in auto parts store called help. They had an assortment of large bolts M18, M20, and washers to go with it. The M20 was the right pitch and I corked the NOx hole in my down pipe.

You need to talk to your tuner to make sure that he uses the front most EGT and Ox sensor. I'm betting this is the case. I know these are the bungs on Bohldiesel's pipe. Not sure which pipe you're using though.
I left the two black hoses just hanging there and nothing plugged to them. A couple guys have found good experimental things to measure differential pressure on using those hoses. Example: TDI measured back pressure on the SCR as it was starting to clog up after DPF removal. You don't have to do anything with the hoses though. You do need to have a plan for either gutting the SCR or removing it though. You likely know this hopefully. How about some pictures of your DP install. Good luck wrenching. |
