Question about washer fluid...

My low washer fluid warning has been on for the past 2-3 weeks...I don't want to take it into the dealership. My cousin, who's a mechanic, gave me a bottle of some blue-looking liquid, and basically told me to pour it into the washer fluid storage compartment, and then fill it all the way to the top with water. Does that sound about right?

lol...thanks but I know where the washer fluid goes...don't worry I wouldn't do something stupid as dump it into the oil funnel

I was just wondering if I should fill up the water all the way to the top

Just another question...is there a specific type of water I should use to mix with the washer fluid, or any water will do?

you can use the drinking water. normal water. Some fluids dont need to be mixt with water. As long it is in the right place it dont mater if you to the top.

Does our washer fluid system have an overfill spout? I know on my Evo when I used to put to much washer fluid in it would spew out through the overfill spout. I'm just wondering this because I just put more washer fluid in and it seems like it may be leaking on passenger side. Either that or my HWS is leaking on that side.

you will see the fluid start to come up the tube where you fill it once it gets full.

Mine was empty too and I poured a GALLON of washer fluid in it and it still had some more space. I didn't know these containers are this huge!

So my passenger HWS is probably leaking slowly.
