After going through and researching various bulbs for my 2010 E90 halogen housings, I found that none are sufficient enough for my low beams. Instead, I will now opt for a HID kit that some members installed.
Has anyone installed an HID kit? How's the result? Last edited by Aesthetics; 08-06-2016 at 10:04 AM.. |

I dont have this on my E90 but my son has the Kensun kit on his Honda Civic. Looks good, runs a little higher kelvin than its rated. We bought the 4k temp and its more like 5k

I got these HID's for my 07 E90, got them professionally installed because i didn't have the time to do them myself when I first got them.

IMO HID kits are history... its all about Headlight LEDs. I love my OPT7 kit, they are sharp, bright and got rid of them ugly ballasts

Based on what I read on here, LED's do not have good output. I installed my HID kit and the result is fantastic. Huge difference between output and visibility

Don't slap an HID kit or LED bulb into a halogen reflector.
While you'll increase light output in the immediate foreground in front of the car, you will loose throw. The light will not carry far enough because the focal point of the light source (HID or LED) does not match the reflector design (halogen). You'll also create glare because you will not have the proper cut off. If you truly want better visibility, you will need to retrofit actual HID projectors. Either through modding your current housings or replacing them. Personally, I'd buy a used set of OEM housings and modify them to run an aftermarket HID kit. |
