First service experience - positive

Hey all,

Just wanted to relate my first unscheduled service experience as many here write of problems and poor customer service....

Two issues with the car:

1. Last Friday the rear speakers were making a buzzing sound with no key or power on when I approaced after work. Played with the radio, on/off, start the car, restart, etc. No luck. Drove it home like that (10 minutes). Waited 1/2 hour and no more problem and has not occurred since. Sounded like the power crossed and made a connection to the rear speakers???? I see that there is no easy way to disconnect the rear speakers via the trunk ???

2. When shifting from reverse to D, then DS, then M2, have a slight hesitation that does not occur in any other gear combination or at any other time after the initial problem. Only the first press of the pedal causes this, immediately after, no issue even if I do the same scenario over. Happens more when it has been sitting a while.

Results:

1. Nothing found, will bring it back if it happens again. Checked for resistance, and visual check, nothing. Recommended that I always remove my thumb drive from the USB/6FL.....

2. No codes found, test drove was okay, will bring it back if it happens again.

I didn't expect them to find anything as they are/were intermittent issues which are the most difficult.......

Service advisor was very professional and they also gave me a 328i sedan (no sport) as a loaner. Cost me 3.95 for the loaner. I was an early appt, so I think I got lucky with the loaner, no rental......

They washed my car for me and it looked very nice when I picked it up.

Car has been great other than these two small issues with 3700 miles so far.

Just wanted to say that I am VERY HAPPY with my car and get treated well by the dealership for service.

Will advise if these issues re-occur and any resolution in case it helps anyone.

BTW, the loaner had a beige interior and looked dirty. Glad I got the black interior I have sport and the loaner didn't, so I definitely noticed a diff, esp the feel of the steering wheel...........and the ride.

Your own ride is always best IMO

One last thing,

Begin rant
Why do some folks beat on a loaner?????? I may want to buy CPO for say my child, I don't want to think that others were beating it up just because it is not theirs. We all should have respect for others and their property. I read a lot of threads that state they do this, not sure if they are serious or not, but my loaner WAS dirty and had the same mileage as mine, and mine was a LOT cleaner....Theoretically, the interior should be good as no smoking/no pet agreement was signed for the loaner.....
Sorry end rant..........

Thanks for listening.

Good luck always with your rides!

You're going to take this comment back once you notice all the new swirl marks left on your car as a result of them washing it.

Easy answer, because we can?

Seriously, why not drive the car harder then your own? Don't you when you demo/test drive a car? I mean i DISAGREE with somene trashing the interior, or driving with the e-brake pulled up...but what is wrong with having a little more fun with a loaner then you do with your own car? There is nothing in the signed agreement that says you should not drive this car spirited? Maybe I am misunderstood your rant?
